4.5 ? First time at Secrets Wild Orchid; however, it won't be my last. Went with my cousin who is familiar with the property. Check-in was a breeze. Deducted half of a star because a couple restaurants weren't open daily for dinner. 1. Hibachi spot was good. Loved our cook (his name slips my memory but trust you'll who I'm talking about once you hear him). Waiter - Keniel was great. 2. Breakfast staff were amazing. Sasha, Tasha and Anthonie were awesome. 3. Eating at Oceana in the middle of the day was great because of the staff. Sasha, you're amazing. 4. Night parties were great. Enjoyed the Bob Marley tribute. The host, Soso, has a voice made for entertaining. He kept the crowd entertained from start to finish. 5. The view from the room and beach were BEAUTIFUL. 6. Spa prices weren't my cup of tea. However, sat through the presentation for a discount and enjoyed my massage and the amenities. A vacation to remember.

Tell All The Secrets: Montego Bay Nightmare
Charles H (Lexington, Kentucky, United States) on Dec 19, 2024
A group of 10 professionals (5 couples) came together to celebrate a 40th birthday in Montego Bay. After some research, we chose Secrets, believing it would provide a premium experience. We’re in our 40s, so our expectations were simple: good food, good ambiance, and friendly service. Secrets failed miserably on all fronts. The staff acted as though every request was an inconvenience. The food? Lukewarm at best. The white and dark meat jerk chicken was dry. They ran out of coconuts. Portions were small and cold. The rooms were decent but poorly maintained, and room service (whether for food or maintenance) was agonizingly slow. This resort has so much potential to be beautiful, but it’s clear management doesn’t care. The activities were poorly advertised and sparsely attended. To make matters worse, they played the same playlist on repeat. If I never hear John Legend again, it’ll be too soon. To top it off, the rooms seemed sprayed but not actually cleaned for mold. Out of 5 rooms, 4 occupants fell ill and left with breathing issues. One staff member casually told us to "stop eating the ice" to avoid getting sick—too little, too late! We paid extra for Preferred Swim Out rooms, thinking it would elevate our experience. Don’t waste your money. The pool access isn’t exclusive, the preferred lounge isn’t worth it, and the rooms desperately need cleaning. I will say that Adia, Devon, and Lisa went out of their way to be helpful, but unfortunately, their efforts were the only highlights in an otherwise disappointing stay.
We love the Quan and only

Had a blast for our honeymoon with plenty of things and excursions to do. Quan was the most amazing entertainer we had met and was very friendly! Highly recommend him and this resort to others for a vacation or honeymoon. Never a dull moment with plenty of shows and other amenities.
Unclean Room

I just got back from Montego bay last night and had to do a review on this place right away. Most of the people who work there were amazing. The grounds were well kept and the beach was beautiful. Plenty of food to eat and the food was average. We checked in our room around 4pm on a Friday and the room smelled of mold and mildew. I understand the climate is humid and things can get very moist and that is why they should make sure no mold is present in the rooms. I don't understand how they couldn't smell it and address it. The drapes were filthy and black (mold appearance) where it drags the floor and the little sofa was extremely soiled. Also, the faucets in the bathroom looked like they hadn't been polished in a while. There was a vast difference between the outside appearance and our room. To top it off, there were large groups staying there and no open rooms. We left our stuff and went to find something to eat and we came back to a visitor (roach) on the floor which my sister quickly killed. I called the front desk and informed them and they sent maintenance up with a can of spray that couldn't be sprayed with people in the room. He said we would have to leave the room while he sprayed and it was around 9:30pm. That was not going to happen since we had traveled all day and no where else to go. So he said he would come back in the morning after we leave the room. That didn't happen! We went through the entire room the first night looking for more but we found no more or tracks. I know this is not unique to this resort because normally people bring them when they visit, but you don't want to see one in the room you paid a lot of money to stay in. If you are going to stay at Secrets, consider paying more to stay in the preferred building to get a better room. Some family members had really nice rooms in the preferred building. I wouldn't stay in the building that we stayed in again.
