Good for business events, not for individual visits

I generally don’t leave reviews for five star hotels, because one knows what to expect. Having stayed as part of a group, I expected better. Service was terrible: went for lunch, nobody at the entry. Tried... to make eye contact with staff, no luck. After standing there for a few minutes, we went and sat down. After awhile we were chastised and told to return to the station. We did, and she begrudgingly walked us back telling us that the patio was closed for a private event - and sat us at the same table at which we had been sitting. Breakfast the next morning was similar: hostess was rude and told us the patio was held for a private event and only the interior was available. Since the main room was very loud and crowded; I asked which tables were available. She quite condescendingly said “I told you INSIDE.” I managed to not respond in kind. Service was very slow and our meals lukewarm. We were happy that we decided not to book the Cactus Club: think small business class lounge (not First) with a small private pool. Having said that, the meals in the restaurants were slow and mediocre so maybe it would have been preferable. Our bill for lunch (two sandwiches, a beer and cocktail) and breakfast (two entrees and coffees) was over $225 with tip so Club might have been a wash if we ate three meals a day at the resort (I would not recommend doing so!) The Phoenician was a much nicer experience.

Absolute wonderful Hotel. First class service by all members of the staff we encountered. The food was very good and they had a nice selection of interesting beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The ro...om we stayed in was very nice and had a great view. They have adult only pools and a wonderful pool area with a huge waterslide for families. Will definitely stay there again
