subpar

hey. i (adult) traveled with my mom and a 1 year old baby. we stayed in an ocean view suite? i think. it was more of a pool view tbh. the room had a mini fridge, a sort of vanity? two beds with lamps on the sides (for reading I’m guessing, but they’re too bright on one side to leave on while the other guest sleeps). there was also a television but the quality was weird so I didn’t bother watching it. it’s important to note i spent most of my time in my room on the balcony reading because the baby we’re traveling with is very fussy while we’re at the pool (and i didn’t bring a friend, plus didn’t wanna be alone at the pool), so my experience might be different from others. pros - - water in the pool is cool, not cold or hot. beach is clean - small resort, less people, more relaxed experience = very quiet - staff were all very kind and welcoming (though note that they might have been more comfortable with my family because we are dominican and speak fluent spanish) - baby friendly. they offer cribs for rooms if needed as well as high chairs at the dining buffet. there is a children’s pool, and the main pool has plenty of elevated spaces that you can sit on with a child - supermarket across the street if you need anything. yes, you can exchange dollars for pesos here. - if you’re worried about being hot, don’t be. air conditioning works overtime here and rooms are actually very very cold, at least in my room. - entertainment games set up by staff during the day - rooms are a good size, we stayed in one of the 2000s - cats!!! cons - - barely any lounge chairs in beach to accommodate the amount of people that go there so finding a place to keep your things if you’re in a larger group will be hard (i think there is a half of the beach that is closed off? there were more seats there) - the water gets way too hot in the shower, very difficult to find a good in between - shower door doesn’t close all the way so it gets soaked in there - bathroom toilets don’t have a very strong flush - to add on to that, the public restroom in their main building did not have working plumbing for their toilets when i first showed up - bed sheets were dirty when we got to our room? like there were visible stains. that’s really bad do they not wash the sheets properly? - in my experience, the wifi you get is extremely slow and i was frequently disconnected from it - food is okay, limited selection and it can get very busy in the buffet so you might struggle finding a seat - piña coladas weren’t very good :( - shampoo and conditioner is combined in the showers rather than being a separate thing? i really didn’t like that - despite the fact this resort is obviously for families, it’s VERY smoker friendly. there was a strong cigarette smell everywhere i went. not fun. - male staff like to stare. - my keycard stopped working twice. once per day. the final day, we were completely locked out of the room because the key reader battery died? technician went and fixed it pretty quickly, but annoying nonetheless. - i stayed in the beach once, and tried reading on a lounge chair. i was there for all of maybe 30 minutes, and 15 minutes in we were approached 3 times. once by a man trying to sell us bracelets/anklets, then by a woman trying to convince us to have our hair braided, and finally once more by a woman offering massages. i was driven to literal insanity as my mother caved and gave me her screaming velcro baby to get a “trial” massage that she was still charged for. all in all, this resort was a thousand times better several years ago when i came here. i was able to write this entire review the 2nd day of my stay lol.
