Nice Anniversary Location, But Service and Cleanliness Were Lacking

This was our 11th wedding anniversary trip, and we stayed five nights at Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort & Spa. While there were a few enjoyable moments, several aspects of the experience were disappointing. F...irst, during check-in, one of the staff members persistently asked us personal questions without clearly explaining the intent — which later turned out to be an attempt to promote a timeshare. It felt intrusive and uncomfortable, and it spoiled what should have been a warm and welcoming start to our stay. Second, the front desk never informed us about the activities available at the resort. I only discovered, by accident, on the third day that daily activities were being held. For a resort of this level, basic communication and guidance should be far better. Another serious issue was the room service tray pickup time. Staff came to collect dishes between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m., which disturbed our sleep more than once. This is truly unacceptable for a resort where guests come to relax. The in-room bathtub was also a disappointment. When I first entered the room, there was visible dust and yellow stains in the tub. It didn’t feel clean at all, and I ended up avoiding it for the entire five-night stay. Overall, I would describe this experience as “acceptable, but far below expectations.” The resort has potential, but there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of service quality and guest comfort.

Overall, the experience was okay but I would definitely not go back. The resort staff are great and pretty helpful overall. However, the food is pretty limited in that certain restaurants are closed on c...ertain days and actual selection of each is also limited. The rooms themselves need updating and are not at all like they appear in the pictures online. Drink service is pretty decent but feels watered down at times.
