A terrible disappointment

We just left this resort yesterday. We typically prefer the less grandiose resorts and don't mind older decor etc, so this was not the issue for us - if you prefer these things, you won't like this place. ... The check-in was ok - not very warm and friendly like other resorts we've been to, but they got the job done. The bellhops were great. On entering the room, it was clean and bright…and warm. We looked at the thermostat on the wall, which had no numbers on the dial but was already turned as far to the end as it would go and the switch was at the high setting, so it was as good as it was going to get (I can't imagine how warm it would be further into the year - it was only mid-March with 29C temps now). The ceiling vent which should have been blowing air at the high setting was barely pushing anything - you could feel a tiny bit if you put your hand right up to it. After a day of travelling there, it was time to test the shower. As soon as the shower started, the bottom of the tub started filling up and very slowly draining…had to stand in a couple inches of water the entire time with a shower head that sprayed weakly everywhere. The toilet needed to be flushed sometimes three times to get a few squares of toilet paper down. On bringing the issues to the resort’s attention, a shrug of the shoulders was all we got. The beds were soft, and the really small pillows were lumpy (a pile of small pieces of foam in a sack). The housekeeping staff was fantastic. The access to the beach was across the street and through the other resort where they had some really friendly bar staff and decent pizza and burgers/hot dogs available at lunch. The buffet had a good amount of fruit and below average selection of mushy warm/cold food (not sure how food-safe the temperatures were). The breakfast with the eggs any-style/omelets were great - delicious and hot. By the end of the week we were dreading going to dinner and ended up ordering pizzas or went elsewhere. We have never gone to Puerta Vallarta before where we looked forward to leaving; a first for everything I suppose.

you get what you pay for

The resort is very dated, not a lot of money put back into the building. Most of the employees are very nice, easy check in and out.The buffet is pretty much the same everyday and it is never hot.The two al... a carte spots are not consistent, the same food is different from one day to the next. The pillows are very hard and uncomfortable. The resort is not on the beach.Like my title says you get what you pay for, save your money and go somewhere nicer, l know l will be back.
