Not a typical Sheraton experience... Sadly

Kelly S (Gresham) on May 22, 2025

Best Hotel for: 1) Damp, dsigusting, mold and mildew filled rooms 2) a beautiful, rocky, unswimmable beach 3) An All Inclusive plan which is mostly a scam 4) Restaurants which are not open often and s...ome which don't really exist 5) A resort that shuts down at 8pm 6) Taxes, fees, and mandatory tipping not disclosed upon checkin 7) No adults only pools nor any open later than 8pm 8) Resort management deliberately misleading guests. 9) A Mexican resort with very few tacos or ceviche And, on a more positive note 1) Lovely gardens and pools 2) An excellent breakfast buffet 3) Friendly, helpful staff 4) Really good room service 5) Mango Margaritas

Good, but not a quiet place to relax by the pool!

Alissa S on May 20, 2025

We booked this place with a Travelzoo deal - and the all inclusive option. First time doing that so I completely missed the part about needing to complete the reservation with the actual hotel!! After my p...anic attack, tried to get in touch with someone but kept being disconnected - not sure if this is was a me thing or a them thing or an international phone call thing. But eventually we connected with Paola, who was absolutely amazing and hooked us up with a last minute room. Whew! When we got there, great initial service - bellmen, reception, and Lorena at the information desk were all the most friendly and helpful people. The room was great - spacious, nice and clean, replenished snacks and drinks daily. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and the bed was super comfy. After getting settled, we made our way to the dinner buffet and Fernando, the server there was SO great! Very personable, suggested places to go nearby for dancing (we were not so much into that but loved the engagement from him). Looking great so far. Once we got into the main event of our stay - the pool - we were a little more disappointed. There are two pools and neither of them is designated as adults only, which is a bummer for people who are primarily looking to just chill out and do nothing but read, drink, nap. We chose to hang at the main pool that's near the front entrance area and lobby bar. The service was slow to get started most days, we had to remind people about our drinks once or twice. Not a big deal, but it was just surprising since there were a lot of fellas at the pool bar. Could definitely do without the 3pm "activities" with the woman screaming UNO DOS TRES! over and over into the mic. In addition to this, there were so many people walking back and forth with incredibly loud rolling carts all. day. long. So our typical relaxing pool vibe was not gonna happen at this place! Not the resort's fault, but worth mentioning - I was very surprised with how inconsiderate the other guests were - one child just grabbed our sunscreen like she owns the place and everything in it? Some people plopped their bags, shoes, and stroller right on top of our towels and other items - these seats are clearly taken, what the heck is the matter with you! There were plenty of other seats too so I'm not sure what that was about. A couple of different groups brought their own speakers and blasted them which wouldn't have been too bad except it conflicted with the resort's speakers and was just, well no. Restaurants: The breakfast buffet was excellent - lots of choices; every one of the server fellas were attentive and personable. Lobby bar was a nice spot to have a pre and/or post dinner drink. We had a lovely gal a few times but I did not catch her name. Great music playing! Il Pescatore (outside grill) and the Embarcadero Grill were both very good and the service was great. Gaviotas was amazing!! Highly recommend - you need to dress up a little bit for this one as there is a dress code. The service was incredible - specifically Rocio and Jesus. Just lovely people and made the meal that much more fun and enjoyable. The Mexican fiesta was SO well done - the decor was bright and fun, the performers were talented and entertaining, and there was an amazing spread of delicious food. The wine that's everywhere and part of the all-inclusive was just okay - I mostly had the Sauv Blanc but it was the same brand for the Rose and Red option. They really put alcohol in the drinks - we got a little toasty each day to say the least!! I wouldn't say I was disappointed overall with this place, but it did not check our boxes for what we consider the perfect Mexican vacay - I recognize some people like the party pool vibes or are looking for a great place to take kiddos, that's just not us!
