Decent vacation but when you have to talk to someone about broken stuff sets the mood.

A 3 star resort at best. Very pretty grounds and beach. Had a tub not working and had to complain way too many times and never got fixed. Finally got a manager and wanted to put us I a tiny room that did n...ot have a tub. No upgraded room or offer to compensate. Had lights not working and two units of ac one was on the way out. Food is either undercooked or overcooked. Had to send fish back to many times. Alcohol drinks are always completely different of the same drink. Had a good time but if you need something fixed they do not care and seen others who said this as well.
Amazing week at Melia, the Level - Ericson was amazing!

We just got back from a week at the Melia. This was our first time going the Dominican. Everything was fantastic! Air Transat was excellent. The flight and transfers were seamless. The Melia exceeded our ...expectations. We stayed in a family suite in the Level. Totally worth the upgrade. The Level pool area, Level lounge, and Level buffet restaurant were worth the upgrade alone. The Level is also located close to the main lobby/restaurants/night life. We found the main pool and beach area to be crowded and people were trying to sell you things, constantly. But the level lounge was quiet, no one bothered us and there was always lounge chairs and shaded area available. Our concierge Ericson was amazing. He checked in on us daily and got us everything we needed including dinner reservations and an extra cot for the kids. Maid service forgot our room 1 day. We messaged Ericson and he had some there within the hour to clean/restock our room. We were so grateful to have him for the week as he really did look out for us, and ensured everything was top notch for us everyday. The entire resort was clean, well kept and beautiful. The food was good and fresh. No one got sick and we certainly didn't go hungry. Lots of variety. The a la carts were tasty, especially the steak house. The water park was so much fun for our kids (age 8 & 11). There are also small splash pads and kiddie slides for very small children. The restaurant at the water park was also a great place to grab lunch. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Some reviews complained about a language barrier. Well, you're in a different country so what did you expect? If someone didn't understand us, there was always someone who could. The resort is quite large but we never had an issue catching the tram that takes you wherever you need to go. Many times we'd even flag down a staff member on a golf cart who would take us to where we wanted to go (we always tipped them of course.) We chose the Melia as we know 2 other families who had excellent experiences. We will be returning!
