Wouldn't recommend or go back

Nice hotel, it's huge! A lil more walking to get around hotel property, they do have shuttles but the "train" needs updated as it's old and rusted out. They need to add more shuttles. Love the hotel, the ...staff and overall enjoyed it. One pet peeve is the tour operators that are 3rd party vendors that work with the hotel sold me an excursion that was totally misrepresented and went so much longer than advertised in their brochure it caused us to miss our dinner reservation! I went speak with a manager several times and they were never available! No attempts to call me back or try to rectify and refund us for missing our reservation and get a refund from the tour we booked and they kept passing the blame on the tour and the tour never took responsibility for the misinformation both by the Amstar tour complaint or by the incorrect info on their Amstar brochure. Terrible customer service in that regard and that alone will prevent me from recommending this hotel. If you make a mistake or someone working in conjunction with your hotel does - make it right. Don't hide and say manager is not here rite now and hope we get frustrated and just forget we paid 4 hundred dollars for a tour that went horribly wrong!
Clean Resort with Amazing Beach Service

We recently stayed at Meliá Caribe in Punta Cana in room 4936. While the room itself was really outdated, the resort overall was very clean and beautifully maintained. It’s a very large property, so be pre...pared to do a lot of walking or wait for a ride on the resort shuttles. We were at the level side and had concierge service, but honestly didn’t notice much of a difference or added benefit from it. As for the dining experience, the restaurants were hit or miss. The Merkado was the best by far, with a wide variety of options. However, they did seem to be short-staffed, especially when it came to drinks—it could take a while to get anything. Also, getting a table at the buffet was pretty disorganized. You had to find your own table and hope it wasn’t already taken, which could get a bit stressful during busy times. We also got massages at the spa, and they were really good—very relaxing and professional. We didn’t use the other amenities at the spa, like the hydrotherapy circuit, but the overall spa experience was definitely a highlight. Our absolute favorite part of the trip was spending our days at the beach. We rented a beach bed every day, and Jerkin took care of us during our stay—he was amazing! He went above and beyond to make sure my two daughters and I were comfortable and had everything we needed. His warm personality and attention to detail really made our vacation special. He truly deserves recognition for his exceptional service. Overall, we had a nice stay thanks to the beautiful beach, clean resort, and the outstanding service from Jerkin. With a few improvements in dining and room updates, this resort could be even better.
It’s fine

Melia Caribe is FINE, but doesn’t deserve a 5 Star hotel rating. We came in with realistic expectations and If you don’t expect too much, you’ll be just fine. We got a two bedroom Level suite that comes wi...th Level service which is supposed to be better. You also get access to a private pool and beach area. And several level only restaurants. The room is clean but dated and quite far from the beach but they have a shuttle. The food is better than expected for an all inclusive. Nothing special, but FINE. The drinks are pretty good for an all inclusive elusive. We got access to a higher tier of beverages with a level… but don’t get excited. It’s well liquor. The service if FINE. Not great. Not terrible. It definitely varies person to person. Some employees are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Some are fine. Some are rude. Some speak English and some don’t which is fair enough in a Spanish speaking country. Check in was a little messy. Took a while at VIP area. Our room wasn’t ready until after 5pm. We changed in a bathroom and headed to beach (10+ minute walk) and when we got there were denied towels by a rude staff member bc we didn’t have a towel card which we should have received at check in. He refused to call the desk to confirm we were guests or help in any way. When our room was finally ready they had misplaced the luggage they stored for us so we had to go on a hunt. They found it. Fine. Overall things are a bit disorganized and there are lots of miscommunications and dropped balls. The beach is super busy and hard to find chairs so I made a reservation for a Cabana with our private concierge, I showed up and none were available (which is the point of a reservation is it not?) There were no beach chairs anywhere so we sat on towels on the sand in blazing sun. Ok whatever, FINE. Note: get to beach first thing and claim chairs! Beach is very crowded even in private level area. (It’s spring break now) I rescheduled a massage appt. Via my concierge who spoke to spa management and confirmed the change. I Showed up and they didn’t have anyone to accommodate me and no history of the change. Bummer, but fine, there are worse things. The excursions that they book for you in main lobby are disorganized. They almost didn’t let us on the snorkel boat at the beach bc we didn’t know to bring the paper receipt from when we booked in the lobby several days earlier. They don’t keep records of bookings, names etc. Seriously? Why did I give my name and room number? Paper receipt- Archaic. Also the activity staff that is on property at a hut in beach was very rude. The captain and boat staff were lovely! The snorkel/dolphin trip was fine. Not luxury , a bit rushed, but a fun activity. There are lots of additional charges. For instance there is an amazing giant floaty thing at the beach… that you have to pay $35/kid/day. But FINE… occupied my kids. Want to use the free water sports equipment… you need to pay for a $50pp lesson first. Not free then, but fine. Want a corona- $5. Also Everyone expects a tip so bring small bills. They are appreciative. I think that about sums it up. Melia is just FINE. I won’t come back here or recommend it BUT it was definitely better than NOT being on vacation. We’ve enjoyed our trip so far.
The 2 Ramon’s at the Riveira Restaurant were the Best!

We are at the restaurant for breakfast for a week straight, and they are all awesome. It was a great experience and no matter what you needed they were able to get it for you. Also, they are very friendly,... always check in on you, and they can communicate with you perfectly in both English and Spanish. Also, the 2 Ramon’s were awesome waiters.

Jose Carela the best buffet worker. Nice and very speedy. Provided special attention to all guests and always tried to help us with any questions and needs. His smile made our dinner better and pleasant... Served us with an attention and positive mood
