Beautiful vacation and delicious food

My partner and I stayed at the Fives Beach Hotel & Residences from May 4 to May 9, 2025, and what an outstanding experience it was! As someone with a severe egg allergy, traveling can be stressful. However..., the staff at the Fives Beach Hotel went above and beyond to ensure I felt safe and cared for. At every meal, there was a personalized note with my name, and I was consistently reassured that all precautions had been taken to avoid any egg contamination. I can confidently give a 5-star rating for the food at this hotel. I’ve stayed in many luxurious 5-star hotels, and the Fives Beach Hotel truly exceeds many of them. We tried all the restaurants, and my favorite was Arezzo and Sea Olive, where I had the pleasure of meeting the chef from Naples. We also enjoyed delicious pizzas at lunch an absolute treat! Fernanda’s warm welcome, Rosalinda’s attentive service, and the kindness of their entire team made this a dream vacation. We were also fortunate to meet Jimmy, a passionate and dedicated professional. It's people like him who bring prestige to hotels like the Fives Beach. A heartfelt thank you to Francisco, who personally made sure every meal was both delicious and egg-free. You've built a team of true professionals—I tip my hat to you! We will definitely be returning before the end of the year. This stay will remain a beautiful memory for us.

STAFF IS CARELESS, RUDE, AND OUR PHONE WAS STOLEN BY A SERVER

?? 1 STAR **DO NOT STAY HERE – STAFF IS CARELESS, RUDE, AND OUR PHONE WAS STOLEN BY A SERVER** My husband and I stayed at **The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences Playa del Carmen** from April 23–30, 2025 to ...celebrate his 30th birthday and our 8-year anniversary. We were extremely excited for our vacation, but it turned into a horrible experience filled with negligence, theft, food poisoning, and complete disregard for guest care. ?? **CHECK-IN:** The only highlight of our trip was **Frank at the front desk**. He was professional, kind, and went above and beyond to upgrade our room and support us throughout the week. Frank deserves a raise and to be in charge of training all the staff at this resort. ?? **APRIL 24 – Phone Stolen at Resort Restaurant (Muelle Ocho):** While dining at Muelle Ocho for lunch, my husband’s phone fell from his pocket either onto the chair or floor. Within 20 minutes we realized it was gone and rushed back – but it was already missing. We asked our server (who was extremely rude and inattentive during service) for help and she avoided us completely. Security was called and guess what? They **searched my bag, my husband's pockets, and even our room later that night – but they NEVER searched the waitress or the restaurant**. To make it worse, there were conveniently **NO CAMERAS pointed at the restaurant**, and **the server refused to help, avoided us, and talked about us to her coworkers while laughing.** She is guilty. We are absolutely certain she took the phone. Hours later, the stolen phone was turned on, airplane mode was removed, but tracking was disabled. I tried to play a sound through Google’s Find My Device — the sound played, then the phone was shut off again. Someone clearly had it. ?? **APRIL 26 – SAME SERVER AVOIDED US AT THE POOL:** We saw the SAME server at the adult pool, and she kept ignoring us. Didn’t offer us drinks, didn’t collect our trash, but did so for everyone else. If she was innocent, why would she be actively avoiding us? Again, the resort did NOTHING about it. ?? **SECURITY’S RESPONSE WAS APPALLING:** Security LAUGHED AT ME after searching our room. They treated us like criminals instead of victims. They never wrote an incident report until I insisted (thanks to Frank again). They never searched the person who had access to the missing item. It was handled with zero professionalism or urgency. ?? **FOOD POISONING FROM BUFFET:** Later in the trip, we ate at the Flavours buffet sushi section and ended up with severe food poisoning — vomiting and diarrhea all day. When I called room service for help, they yelled at me, hung up on me, and took over **3.5 hours** to deliver a simple bowl of chicken soup. I was sick, dehydrated, and treated with absolutely no care or urgency. ?? **GUEST SERVICES & STAFF BEHAVIOR:** Most staff (besides Frank and a couple servers) were rude, dismissive, and completely disinterested in guest experience. When I went to guest services for help again, they literally **called security on me** because they didn’t want to deal with me. At checkout, the bell staff gave us dirty looks and ignored us while we were waiting for our shuttle. ?? **SADLY, WE’RE NOT ALONE:** We met several other guests during our stay who: * Also had **phones stolen** at this resort. * Got **food poisoning** after eating at the buffet. * Said the resort quality has declined over the years. ?? **FINAL THOUGHTS:** We paid a LOT for this trip and expected a peaceful, joyful vacation. Instead, we were robbed, disrespected, and got sick. The resort’s failure to act professionally, search their own staff, or offer any real help is unacceptable. We are requesting that the resort cover the $549 CAD to replace the phone that their employee stole. I’m not asking for a full refund only because of Frank's exceptional help. If you value safety, professionalism, and proper hospitality — **do not stay here.** I have been to Mexico 4 times and this was by far the **worst experience** I’ve ever had.
