This places peak , was years ago . Dont waste your money

U3321WKrafaele on May 24, 2025

Don’t waste your time or money , the staff is Medicare at best in most positions the hotel is in major need of repair and maintenance the ac leaks like a waterfall the keyless entry doesn’t work on most ro...oms and be prepared to walk in 92 degree heat back on forth from and to the lobby a few times and only when you get frustrated is when they will decide to help open your door, I found a stale piece of bread in the room as soon as we checked in , the hostes of the hibachi rest is a tool , separated a wedding group of family members that flew in from 6 different places in the world because she just couldn’t figure out how to be able to sit us all down at the same time when we had even made reservations -also no working ac on that restaurant where they literally build up flames for a hibachi show so your food will be drenched in your own sweat before you start eating it , once you get to the “private beach “ you will find 10 metric tons of rotting sargasm so the beach was out for us, oh and by the way if you try to just relax and look at the ocean there will be a person holding a massage for sale sign in between you and your desired view , on top of that will get asked about 20 times per day sometimes by the same lady if you want to pay for a a massage so resting isn’t an option when you just have to dodge constant pushy sales tactics, my sister got married here and before the ceremony was even complete the staff was already taking all the arrangements down no uniform just plain clothes staff so all of our celebratory photos of the well dressed family will be photo bombed by the staff just taking stuff apart, literally 3 minutes after they said I pronounce u husband and wife literally in the middle of the photo sesh, they a started taking everything down . Absolutely pushy . Also requested room service late at night they said sure , never showed up unbelievable . Tried to bring breakfast to my fiancé in the room told me I couldn’t do that either so I’m not sure how this makes any sense . This was about 25 to 30 people we had in our group granted the wedding planner Carlos was amazing but for the rest of the experience , pretty lame . Put it this way if you want to go to a resort where at the very end you’ll think what tha heck did we do ? This is it , if you want something where everything is a positive experience do not give this place a chance , absolutely NOT worth it , only got 1 star because there’s coatis everywhere

Broken elevators and poor trolley system

Sotheavy K on May 23, 2025

My family and two other family’s stayed at this Sandos Playacar in Mexico for 5 nights in May 2025. During our stay, I kept wondering how this resort received almost 5 stars. Here are my experiences: • br...oken elevators: we stayed in a building with junior suites that were family friendly. All the elevators were out of service, yet the staff or front desk made no mention of this or even tried to accommodate families with strollers. You would think they would at least put us on the first floor. At one point 4 of us were stuck in the elevator in the scorching heat with the baby before one of us was able to pry the door open. •trolley system: the resort is big and with hot temperatures and young kids, we wanted to use the trolley. This was very annoying as it seemed there was only one trolly circulating the entire resort. Long lines of people would hussel and scurry on the trolley and if you were not fast enough, you would have to wait 20 minutes for the next one. At one point the staff brought out a clip board to help manage the long lines. They didn’t think to increase the trolley or frequency though. Also my son was standing in the walkway which was clearly visible to the stopped driver, yet the driver decided to step on the gas to encourage people to get out of his way resulting in scaring my son. •Buffet: there is one main buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner. Food was fine but we did get tired of it quickly. At one point during our meal, there was a loud bang to wich everyone ran out of the buffet fearing for our safety and lives. People thought it was a machine that bursted and potential gas leak. The staff ushered everyone out and they determined what was happening. The buffet eventually reopened. •Staff: the friendliness of the staff was a hit or miss. Generally all the staff at the restaurants were great. Those at the bar will completely ignore or bypass you if you were not aggressive enough or spoke the language. •beach: the beach was beautiful and the sand was white and fine. There were some sea weed washed up but it did not bother us. The smoothie bar and bars at the beach are for gold and black members and the staff could turn you away. No signs were marked on these huts though and the nearest bar was a ways away. Didn’t make any sense but sounds like they are trying to get people to become those gold and elite members. •smell: some of my family members complained about a urine smell that kept permeating by the pools. Have no clue where that would be coming from or if it was a septic issue. Overall, we still had fun and made the most of this trip. The facility is outdated, and the overall experience of the resort is the lowest of all the resorts I have been to in Mexico. Would not recommend this resort to my family or friends.
