food is good staff is nice very attentive the place looks very pretty the bathrooms are nice the menu has a lot of options you don’t have to wait that long for your food the portions are good the meat isn’t raw there’s not too much bad things about this place

I went to Sandos Playacar for my sister’s 40th birthday. Overall our stay was fine but didn’t feel like anyone went over the top or made our experience unforgettable. We have gone to Mexico several times and stayed at different resorts so we always make sure to try to read a lot of reviews and see traveler’s pictures. Sandos was way too big to only be running one trolley for all their guests. On occasions we did walk to the buffet, pool or beach but when you are all dressed up you don’t want to be sweating having to walk 10-12 min to get to all the amenities but one trolley would come every 15-18 minutes. During peak time people are running to grab a seat on the trolley with some unfortunately left behind to wait. The beach was beautiful with white sand and clear water. If you don’t have an elite room or membership the pool your allowed to use is very crowded and cloudy with the walk up bar closing early afternoon which I don’t know why. We were looking forward to celebrating my sister’s birthday and got reservations at the Gourmex restaurant. The waiter was average didn’t seem very friendly and just wanted to get through the order to move on. When it came time for dessert I asked if they could do something special for my sister’s birthday like put a candle in a cake or sing to her. He told me no because that had to be asked for at the beginning which was very disappointing. We had just watched them sing and have a cake with a candle for the table next to us so I wasn’t sure why it was a big deal to do it for my sister. Leaving disappointed we decided to try again at our reservation for the next day at the Fogo de Janeiro. This time we told the waiter as soon as he greeted us that we were celebrating a birthday and if they could do something for her. He proceeded to tell us that we were supposed to tell the host. Again very disappointed at the process for a simple action which we have celebrated several birthdays at other resorts and never had a problem. At the end of the dinner they did make up for it by bringing her a dessert with a candle but the hassle was unfortunate. The best part was the nightly shows which were very well put together and entertaining. Overall our stay was alright but I wouldn’t go back as the staff weren’t that friendly besides the entertainment group and the resort was way to big to enjoy everything.
