My husband and I recently returned from a trip to Melia Internacional Varadero. This was our second time staying at this hotel and it was amazing! We stayed on the Adults Level side. All the hotel staff ...are so nice and friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a special one. While we were there I was lucky to be celebrating our wedding anniversary and my birthday in the same week. The hotel staff went out of their way to make those dates special for us, our room was decorated both nights. On my birthday at dinner I was presented with a delicious cake and sang to by the staff and fellow guests. The hotel is well maintained, the beach staff are great at taking care of you. They will help you set up your beach spot for the day bringing over pillows, loungers, tables and umbrellas. The beach bar staff will walk out frequently to see if you need drinks, bring food and just do a check to ensure you are having a great time. While we were there we ate our meals at The Mosaico, Sensum, Cape Nao, and the Sunset Grill and Bar. The whole time we were there the food was amazing! We didn't experience any food shortages to speak of. While we were there Cuba was experiencing rolling blackouts. On the resort the hydro didn't even flicker once. The only thing we noticed was the wifi had some instability. In summary our trip and experience at this resort has been fantastic and I can't wait to return!

Well where do I start we got to resort at 240am and of course we were starving so we went to the 24 hour “snack bar” and all they had was chicken sandwich,ham and cheese sandwich and pork sandwich so we go...t a ham and cheese one there was no mayo no butter totally gross but it was the first night so we shook it off. We went to go to bed and the sheets had blood stains on them and hair all over pillow cases. The wifi was spotty the entire time my bf had wifi and I didn’t so I went to front desk to ask why she said well nobody has it I said well my bf does so she grabbed my phone out of my hand and was trying to get wifi to work when I got upstairs it seemed to be working and then I looked and she took my airplane mode off so now I’m going to have to pay for all the messages I sent until I realized what she had done. The workers never smiled except one women and one man at the 24hr snack bar. The buffet was discusting there was muscle shells in the rice it was all the same everynight the pasta wasn’t to bad. The pool bar is frustrating because the staff stand on the land side of the bar to serve the land people and we waited 10 plus mins to get a drink at one point I got out of the pool walked over and I said to the girl this is a pool bar I shouldn’t have to get out of the pool to get a drink she apologized but it kept happening for the whole week in one ear out the other. Another thing about the pool bar is they always ran out of ice so you couldn’t get a drink if they had no ice unless you wanted beer. The 24hr snack bar never had a hotdog at nighttime the entire week they only had ham and cheese sandwich, pork sandwich or chicken sandwich. The staff were taking peoples phones and putting in 5 stars for their resort most of which were young teens that they were doing that too. The room looked amazing and had no trouble with that at all and the maids were very nice. The disco was horrible all they played for music was Cuban music once every 10 songs they would play a Canadian song. There were young kids in this disco maybe 5-6 years old while everyone is loaded drunk they even sang happy birthday to one young fella I don’t believe kids should be allowed to be in a bar but that is my opinion. The entertainment at the pool was awful as well they mean good but they talk in Spanish and none of us could make out what they were saying. I would never go back to this resort everr again. The elevators are very slow and when your on the elevator going down and try to get off the peopel just try and rush in without letting the people in the elevator out. At one point we put our hands up and said “ no no you have to let the people in the elevator out before you get in “ this was an awful vacation and for the amount of money we paid I was very disappointed I would have rather go to a cheap place where staff are happy and smiling.
