Starting July 1, Melia Varadero will begin a remodeling project of 146 rooms. The work includes; Replacement of room and terrace furniture, room floor, replacement of
doors, textiles, TV, safe security box, minibar, lighting, air conditioning, bathrooms and balcony doors.
The completion of the improvements is expected by April 30th, 2025.
Some noise, dust and other issues will be associated with this project however all efforts will be made to minimize guest impact during this time.

Just came back from my best trip to Cuba. Stayed in a levels suite for 6 nights and was very impressed with this resort. The levels service and perks were worth it. Loved the cafe/bar and the staff that wo...rked it. Great capuccinos and frapachinos as well as terrific snacks of meats,cheeses and pastries until 11pm. Abraham was hilarious....have to ask him for a small Pina colada. Luisto was so friendly and always provided outstanding service. The levels staff were also very helpful in arranging taxis and making reservations in the restaurants,even restaurants in town. The one levels staff member even came looking for me by the pool to answer a question I had. Had great breakfasts each day at the tex/mex. The pool and beach were great. And you don't need water socks as other travellers have mentioned. Never a problems getting loungers in the shade. The buffet was okay, only ate there twice for lunch. The ala cartes were very good....especially the international. I will include pictures of our food from there. I have been to Cuba 7 times now at 7 different resorts and have enjoyed each trip. However, I honesty will be returning to this resort for my next trip. It was the best by far. The drinks were good quality, the food was good and the rooms were clean and comfortable. My only minor complaint would be with some of the older male bar staff who were unfriendly at times and the slow service at the buffet and some of the bars. It seemed like they were understaffed.
Poor service and negative experience

We really wanted to love this resort! Unfortunately, most staff we interacted with were rude and unfriendly. The younger staff were much nicer and appreciative of our tips. We found the majority of older s...taff barely interacted with us and did not say thank you or acknowledge our tips. The pool area is very outdated and hard to find a seat if you are not out there first thing in the morning to hold a spot! The hotel is clean but definitely needs some updating. We paid to upgrade to the Level, we really enjoyed the concierge service on the beach, but otherwise did not benefit from the upgrade. The food is the same at every restaurant and for the most part, not great. Some of the food we were served was inedible. Ultimately, we LOVED the beach, so clean, water is clear and lots of chairs, it was the best part of our trip!
