WestJet service updates - August 9, 2024
16 aircraft across WestJet’s fleet grounded with significant hail damage as teams across the airline work diligently to understand and implement required inspections and repairs Guests are advised to check the status of their flight prior to leaving for the airport.
Across WestJet, teams continue working to perform necessary repairs and inspections to the 16 aircraft damaged by the hailstorm that impacted Calgary on the evening of August 5, 2024.
To support guests impacted by cancellations, WestJet has secured an agreement with Canadian North, allowing additional flights throughout the weekend across its network.

Images of hail damage that impacted the WestJet’s fleet on Monday evening and recovery efforts. The first picture shows the wing spoilers which will be repaired prior to the aircraft returning to service and the second picture shows electronic mapping of each hail strike ensuring nothing is missed.
As a result of the significant impact to WestJet’s fleet, cancellations continue to be implemented across the airline’s network to account for decreased capacity.
