Not value for money

Arrived at the hotel to a cold flannel which was very nice, was also expecting a drink which we didn't see but then other days in reception travellers were given a drink. Was escorted to our rooms after a quick trip on the golf buggy showing certain areas of the hotel which was good. Initial reactions to the room were good, however this was late at night and in the dark. What a surprise in the morning when it was daylight. The room was very dirty and dusty. You could write your name on the screen of the TV and the dust on the skirting boards, bathroom lights and behind the doors was black. The floor under the fridge well I don't think that had been cleaned in months. Not what is expected when paying the amount we did. First morning freezing cold shower but when raised this with the staff it was rectified and we had no further problems with the water. Towel hook in the bathroom was put on upside down so couldn't use it!!! The grounds of the hotel are beautiful with a lovely beach. The sunbeds on the beach could do with updating like the beds around the pools. The food and drink. Oh dear this was such a let down for the hotel. Never have we experienced poor quality food in the buffet restaurant as we did at PBC. The breakfast for us was the best as we only have yoghurt and eggs, however this was a laugh. My husband put some yoghurt in a bowl and then when to put some blueberries and strawberries in to be told he couldn't have them as they were only for smoothies, he couldn't believe what he was hearing so the next day he asked them for the fruits with the yoghurt to be blended and then put In his bowl which the staff did, what's the difference??Thank you to Jo Ann who makes the best poached eggs. Lunch OMG first day we went with all intentions of having a salad, well if you like lettuce that's it, there was never any cucumber tomato, cold meats etc the choice of cooked meats were either fatty or chicken on the bone, what also was missing which has been every other hotel we visited was pasta station, grill station, pizza station. The choice was poor. The second week was then changed to a la carte which initially we enjoyed but you had a choice of soup 3 salads, pizzas, burgers, steak or curry, this became repetative after a few days so good luck to anyone going for longer. The evening meal was the first and last time we ate in Topaz restaurant. Thank goodness for the pineapple grill the food in there was much better. Chef Pietros was also nice. We did go over to the sister hotel, OMG this was another place the food was perfect 100% better and also many more choices of alcoholic drinks which were made perfect, the right quantity of alcohol with tonic and ice etc. We also paid the $80 to eat in the steak house. This is only open 2 nights a week to arrive to be told they had no Tbone or another steak. To their credit I ordered the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and our friend ordered the rib eye, half of which was fat and gristle. Would I go again no I wouldn't waste my money. The public toilets behind guest service's I used these daily and 3 times out of our holiday there was no hand soap. I asked for this to be refilled which took a couple of days each time to achieve this. This isn't exceptable in this day and age, I was surprised that I hadn't heard of anyone being ill. The hotel appears to lack any form of management supervision, checking on the staff and their duties. The coffee shop, this was amazing all the staff extremely polite and made a fantastic coffee thank you, it was also immaculately clean. A fantastic addition to the hotel. Credit has to go to all the staff who always had a smile on their faces and were always polite. We payed just short of £7000 which included all of the taxes, this was an expensive holiday which I had hoped for more. Upon checking out you are asked if you want to pay towards a childrens charity, alll the people that were checking out with us said no. For us this should come out of the island tax as this is an expensive part of your holiday. Would I go again sorry to say due the negatives written above I wouldn't go again.

Great 2nd Trip Here! Fantastic Beach!

Amy Y (Oak Hill, Virginia) on Dec 19, 2024

We came back in 2021, and decided to return for a couples trip this December, 2024 for 8 days. What we really love about this little slice of beauty is the size of the resort and the fun activity staff. Ann Marie & Andi are excellent at what they do! The resort is so tiny, that it's easy to find each other without having to call or make pre-arranged plans. The beach is BEAUTIFUL! Best we've seen on the island! While we love the activities staff, some of the activities could be better, really more of them. Most nights, between 4:30-6:30 (when the restaurants open), you would find a ton of people in the main seating area by the main bar, scrolling on their phones. Last visit it seemed like there were more trivia contests, name that tune, etc during that time frame. That being said, we did win both trivia contests again this trip! The cocktails are fine. I ordered the same specialty 'Grinch on Vacation' cocktail off of their menu, and it was different each day. I'm not picky, so it was fine. The food....it's fine. We have eaten at all of the restaurants, except for the one that you have to pay extra for, and all meals were ok. Topaz, the main buffet restaurant, does have a huge selection of various foods at dinner, so you can pretty much find something that suites you every night. Breakfast was great there, my husband became buddies with the omelet lady & she made him some hollandaise for his eggs bennies the next morning. The Beach BBQ is really a nice event that they put on. Again, lots of different options to eat. I'll end with the beautiful beach, it's dreamy!

A slice of paradise

ToniaWalsallWood on Dec 16, 2024

I'm shocked at some of the poor reviews as we have had the best time. The location is stunning. Get a room in the 700 range with sea views and lovely and quiet and it's not dated or tired. The staff are totally focused on giving you a good time and can't do enough for you. Lovely big smiles from everyone and they work so hard keeping everything clean and tidy. The towels on the sunbeds are annoying when people don't then use them but we've never been short of a sunbed as there's plenty all over the resort. Food in buffet restaurant is varied and very nice. Breakfast is amazing with so much choice. When considering this is 4* I think they do a great job for the money and we've experienced 5* resorts which are less well run and certainly with less friendly staff. I think some people on Trip Advisor must be very hard to please! We would def recommend the place for a week of relaxation and sunshine at reasonable cost.

Great up to now, now too many visitors for the resort to cope with ??

Tracey P on Dec 13, 2024

It’s been great up to now. An influx of visitors today seems to have put the resort under pressure. They laid on a lovely carnival this evening with a steel band and put on a barbecue and decorated the areas around the main bar which look beautiful. There were large queues for dinner and sadly when we went to eat there wasn’t alot left and it was cold. I’m not a fussy eater so was disappointed with what was left ??. The bar area also was finding it difficult to cope. It was whoever shouted the loudest. ??

Eventful return

Shirley R on Dec 06, 2024

Just returned from 2weeks at Pineapple Beach Club. This is a return visit after 8 years so buckle up cos it’s lengthy. Booked a private transfer on arrival which broke down 10 minutes from the hotel. Waited for 1 hour on a deserted unlit road for a replacement which eventually arrived. On arrival at the resort we relayed this experience and the reception offered me a free spa treatment as compensation. We booked an ocean view room which was at the top of a steep hill reached by about 100 wooden steps or a golf buggy ride. Now I’m a lady of 74 years with osteoarthritis in my leg so this wasn’t ideal. The next day we requested moving and they arranged this the same day so full marks for that. The only room available was a garden view, cheaper than we paid for but a stones throw from the beach so we opted for this. A couple of days later I went to look at the Spa but no one was there so I Left but fell down the steps onto the concrete path. A passing couple picked me up and the resort doctor came to check on me. We had a lovely letter from the resort manager who also phoned a few days later to enquire how I was. The Resort: There was quite a bit of building work going on and they closed the infinity pool for a week. This could perhaps have been done earlier in the year when it was off season. The themed restaurants were ok - we preferred the Italian but the Orchid left us cold. There was a cover charge of $40 per person and wouldn’t say it was worth it. The Topaz buffet was good. Entertainment at night wasn’t very good. A few decent singers would have been an asset. The staff are lovely. Anella on the beach and Kyle were great and Judith and Arlene in Topaz restaurant. The wildlife was amazing. Can’t not mention Marvin on the beach who remembered us. We would recommend this resort to our friends and would definitely go again. The flight back was rubbish. We paid for premier class with Virgin but there was no duty free trolley, drinks offered once then you had to help yourself and the meal was inedible. Mr Branson himself was on the plane in business class so trust his meal was better than ours.
