Needs improvement

The resort is very pretty, the outdoor spaces are well maintained.Beach is very nice. The rest I have to say is negative. Check-in is at 3pm, we arrived about 12:30. I had requested by phone and email for... early check in. Upon arrival we were told our room wasn't ready yet -to go eat . After eating we kept being told our room was almost ready. We didn't get to our room until 4:45 an hour and 45 minutes later then check in. No one cared, I asked to speak to manager (Max )said sorry! People who arrived after us were given rooms before us. Lots of people were very upset besides us. There are 3 restaurants that you need to make reservations for but because we didn't have our room number we couldn't. There is someone who can help with that but no one told us By the time we found out they were gone for the day. One employee Jasmine was nice and tired to help us. We ate at 2 of the restaurants -the Caribbean one had the best food. Our room had no hand towels, washcloths. Most of the employees seemed unhappy to be there. Beach bar ran out of almost all types of alcohol ! The only beer at the resort was local . A couple of days no straws for frozen drinks. At buffet couldn't get drinks waitress never came for drink orders. Ordered from room service grill cheese, one slice of cheese completely cold (cheese was not melted). I could go on and on. Many people we spoke to during our stay felt the same way ,food was mediocre, employee's seemed unhappy. There are flies everywhere making eating unenjoyable. We picked this resort because it was in the Marriott Family. Very disappointing.

Institutional Food, Too Many Flies!

The quality of the food at this resort is, in a word, poor. The tiramisu at Grazie, the Italian restaurant, bore no resemblance to its namesake, and the jerked pork, which was indescribable, missed the mar...k, by far. My best meals were off property. Then, there were the ever present flies. They were everywhere. At the beach, at the restaurant, there was no respite from them. Beautiful beach, calm, clear waters; but institutional food, and TOO many flies. Terribly overpriced and an unexpectedly poor representation of the Marriott brand.

For this place i must say I have zero complains it’s really been amazing to be here. The gym I must say is one of the best I’ve seen I’ve never seen a gym with barbells in a hotel before they really went u...p and beyond shout out to the gym guys Jameel, Shannon , lady Jay will definitely be back really soon!

The royalton Antigua gym is really nice ..it’s actually one of the highlights of our stay it’s really big . Good equipment the classes in the gym are really nice. Pool is ok could use some touch up.. the l...andscaping and view really nice .. shout out to jameel for staying and talking with me.. he helped me express myself

Lack of dinner options

Overall the resort and its staff were great. Their biggest downfall is the lack of dinner options.. They promote that they have 5 restaurants on the grounds but 3 of them are ala cart, limited seating and... require a reservation. They don't allow you to make a reservation until you receive a room number and can only be done between 10 AM and 3 pm. We weren't checked in until 3:30 so we were unable to make any for the first night and when we went the next morning to make reservations at 10 AM they were already sold out because they allow it to be made up to 2 days in advance. The answer myself and other guest received from the staff when we complained about this issue was simply we have a buffet and you don't need a reservation for that. So for the first 2 nights of our stay we were forced to eat at the buffet, which didn't have the best options and at the sports bar.
