Horrible All Inclusive

Wander57046293281 on May 16, 2025

Price was reasonable. View is ok. Much better views on the island. Food isn't very good. We had the Grill Club and Buffet and Sports Bar. Dining at Italian Restaurant now. Flies are very bothersome trying ...to eat a meal. Steak House was closed unbeknownst to us prior to booking. I called room service to get a bottle of Cabernet for our room. They told us to call front desk. Front desk said they aren't the ones to call for wine. Went to poolside bar for a swim and a drink. Rude bartender and bad smell coming from bar area. The resort is completely out of vodka. Only one brand of beer. The room is average. Smells of wet/mold. 6th floor. Black mold on hallway ceiling near elevator. I would never recommend

Horrible experience

Lorella C on May 16, 2025

I had recently stayed at royalton, Autograph hotel and I was very unhappy at my stay. I have never encountered such a horrible experience. For starters, I had booked a Bay view and had a big white buildin...g in my view. I went to the front desk and they couldn’t switch my room until the third day of the trip, which only went down hill from there. There was a lot of miscommunication from the manager, who stated we had to give up our room and be without a room that we paid for until 5 pm. Then after going back and forth with the front desk staff, the manager on site stated she never stated that we had to give up our room. We did not have a room from 10 am until they informed us that we had a new room. But to our surprise the room that we were told to go to was not our room at all. We went into the room and the tv had someone else’s name. We were very upset and brought it up to the front desk’ attention. We then again started to go back and forth about being sent to someone else’s room. They then had moved us to a vacant room which had its own set of problems. These problems caused us trouble for the 2 nights we stayed in that room. We had to call maintenance 5 times and still they couldn’t fix the problem. At first , the lights would randomly turn off and wouldn’t turn back on. Then the lights would randomly turn on every 15 mins at 3 o’clock in the morning. The shower wouldn’t work properly. We had to manual hold the button down to get the rain shower to function properly. The hair dryer that was provided for the room was missing the back piece on the hair dryer. Since the back piece was missing it ended up sucking in my hair. I had to rip my hair out of the hair dryer which was extremely painful. It was a very unpleasant experience for me. I contacted JetBlue vacations and they told me I have to email the hotel for compensation. The lady that responded from the hotel didn’t do anything to help me. All she said was contact JetBlue and then never responded again and when I told her JetBlue said to contact the hotel. Most of the workers are miserable and not friendly at all. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Even though the resort was beautiful. It is literally a 2 star hotel in a 5 star location. What a shame.

Overall recommend the Royalton for a Destination wedding with family and friends!

Kelsey C on May 15, 2025

We visited the Royalton to have a destination wedding and spend time in a beautiful place with friends and family while doing so. We ultimately had a good experience and great time spent at the Royalton. ...The service we received was good (especially from our Butlers, (Matara & Rodwin). They were very nice and The restaurants and drinks were good! They did run out of a few things at the pool bar but we were able to find others we liked. The only poor service we received was in the sports bar. It took 20 minutes for the server to notice us and take our order. As far as our White party and Wedding- we worked with the wedding coordinator, Michelle and she made sure everything went absolutely perfect. 10/10 The food at both events was amazing!!!! Michelle was very accommodating and was great to work with throughout the whole process! I will say I was a bit nervous not seeing any of the wedding decor beforehand and just knowing I sent recommended pictures from Pinterest. But she absolutely nailed every detail and everything turned out more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. We can not thank Michelle and the wedding team enough for making sure our special day was beautiful and exactly what we wanted!

Disappointed, not like other Royaltons

Teddy R (Trinidad) on May 15, 2025

While the resort appears to be clean overall, ALL restaurants are overrun with flies. This is unsanitary and also causes a nuisance when eating. I also was not impressed with what appears to be the lack of... maintenance/upkeep of the lounges. MANY lounge cushions on the beach and around the pool are covered with mildew and algae, not what I would expect to see at a 5 star resort. I chose the Royalton as I'm accustomed to their high standards which is why I paid the high price for this resort as opposed to the other cheaper all inclusive options in Antigua. My spa experience left much to be desired. My therapist had to be removed from our couples massage session so it was cut short. While I acknowledge that things happen and was quite understanding given the spa manager's apology, our 80 mins couples massage ended up being 50 mins. We had to go back the next morning for what was a 30 mins massage and a pedicure- it felt rushed as that morning we had to check out. The front of my body was never messaged at what was supposed to be an 80 min massage. What was supposed to also be a 60 min pedicure was only 45 mins so I am not sure whether we got what we paid for (royal pedicure USD$75 each) or whether we received an express pedicure (USD$60- which coincidentally is 45 mins). After spending USD$470, I was EXTREMELY disappointed as this couple's treat was meant to be a birthday treat for my other half. While there is nightly entertainment, it starts way too late (9:00-9:30pm) for us- wish this was even an hour earlier. Drinks at the pool were also disappointing as they were quite icy/watered down and the paper straws do not hold up well to allow for finishing the drinks. I'm all for the environment but paper straws just doesn't work. The resort also runs out of items- some restaurant menu items were not available (so reviews/rumors are true) and the pool bar was out of Blue Curacao for all of our trip. The resort's saving grace is their staff; they do the very best they can. Our butler, Rodwin, is the best butler we've had in all our all inclusive travels- extremely attentive and observant- noticed that my other half was drinking the merlot and brought an additional bottle to our room. He also decorated the room for my other half's birthday. The Marriott representative Vanessa was also very attentive. She made sure to contact us and checked on us everyday to see if we needed anything. It was an OK stay- I would return to Antigua but I won't stay at the Royalton.

Mothers Day 2025 Antigua

angelao943 (Chicago, Illinois) on May 15, 2025

The check in process was pretty smooth and I forget the young ladies name but she realized immediately that I had requested two queen beds, but they were putting us in a king size bed. She ensured that the...y would work on rectifying that being that I had requested that directly through the property prior too. We were told we would be notified the next day. So without complaint we went to our rooms and began our stay. Yamin the mini bar attendant exemplified exceptional customer service and went out of his way to make certain that we had everything for the first night. But shortly after the night mare began. We were called and told that our bags and things would be moved into the new room we requested at 12:00 p.m. Since we had not heard anything by 12;30 we proceeded to the front desk only to be informed that our room would not be ready until 3:00 p.m. Mind you we had not showered or anything because the right thing would be to move us from one room to the next being that it had been paid for over a month in advance. When I complained about this Jace Ann the front desk clerk seemed less than concerned, in fact she seemed irritated that I was even voicing my displeasure and unceremoniously said " well do you want to speak to a manager to which I said I did. Now enters Mandy the manager who just reiterated the inability to accomodate paying customers by just leaving us without a room for two and a half hours. We were told to enjoy the property. My concern is what if I wanted to take a nap in a room I had paid for. Mandy seemed to have an attitude and instead of being helpful; only seemed interested in talking over me and I was very displeased with her service. It definitely was not a customer focused environment. I am not the one to minced words and assuredly voiced my displeasure. Needless to say after wandering around aimlessly we never got a call and only to get a room after we returned and were helped by another front desk agent which went relatively smooth. Room service was lackluster and very slow. The bartenders at the pool bar were slow. It took forever to get a drink. The foam party was a bonus. The whole resort just seemed to run out of various things and had it not been for some of their employees who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable I would have gave this place an even lower score. Nevertheless, Gail and Daphne at the buffet were amazing. Jamellah at the Caribean Restaurant did a great job. Lavert was nice and checked on us continously. Munisha was one of the bright spots. She was the concierge and assisted us with booking restaurants. Sabrya was amazing. Shemar the bellman was friendly and helpful. The score bar was hit or miss. The Culinary Experience was never open. Javan at the steakhouse was amazing. He is a chef and came out to check on us personally. That was greatly appreciated. On a final note Jeremiah in the steak house went over the top and phenomenal and he deserves to be promoted for his continuing amazing service with a smile. He even offered service the next day in the buffet. He should be promoted.
