Perfect for us

gigijk22 (Boston, Massachusetts) on Jul 11, 2024

I didn’t appreciate PSW until maybe day 3 of our 7 day vacation—yes, the room is dated but its location is perfect (right on a corner away from the hustle of what seems like an infinite number of hotels & stores on Kalakaua Ave), the staff are fabulous & our view from our view from our partial ocean view room felt luxurious. On the first night the television didn’t work & the guy who fixed it was so helpful; it was the 3 of us in the room but only got 2 washcloths when room was refreshed—they were not only quick as a flash to my room w sets of towels (it was me & my 11 yo sons); the pool was pure joy & they loved it the most; & this location is so walkable to just about anywhere you need to go to grab a bite or shop a bit. Waikiki’s so incredibly expensive to the point of madness & PSW was a nice break from that. The only suggestion I’d make is to provide sets of towels per room per guest & to have recycling on every floor instead of just the third. I would absolutely stay here again—if people want the kind of room they’d get at a Hilton or Marriott they should just stay there. But if you can look past dated rooms that are clean, more affordable, & have beautiful views, then I’d suggest PSW.

Lovely location with helpful staff

Susan R (Sacramento, California) on Jul 04, 2024

We spent 7 nights here in an ocean front room. The view was stunning and the room was comfortable. The location is convenient and easily walkable. The staff were friendly & helpful. The resort fee included things we actually used, which isn’t the case at most hotels. We used the beach towels and next door we picked up beach chairs & a beach umbrella. Do pick up an umbrella before 9am or after 1pm otherwise they run out. Honolulu is a busy & crowded place. The Park Shore is at the quieter end. Don’t expect any hotel next to the beach to have a parking lot. They all just have tiny driveways and then valets park for you. You might have to wait a minute but all the Park Shore valets were nice. Walking into the airy lobby you notice the lovely tropical flower smell. The lobby is also where you will pick up beach towels and can get sunscreen and after sun lotion. The ocean front room was a good size for us two. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever had. Every day we spent time on the balcony. While Park Shore isn’t at the busiest part of Waikiki, the streets here still are busy with buses, tree trimming, road work, roosters. Inside the room with the sliding door closed, none of these were very loud though. Housekeeping is every other day. One of the off days, we ran out of soap and told the front desk as we were going back to the room. Within seconds of stepping into the room, they arrived to happily fix the issue. Very impressive. Other reviews mention the rooms aren’t the most updated. That is true, but they aren’t run down. If you want a relaxing uncrowded tropical stay, don’t pick Honolulu or at least try the beaches on the east side of Oahu. If you want to visit a city in a beautiful beach location that is walkable with many stores & restaurants, Honolulu is a good choice. We picked Park Shore for its great location & facilities.
