We recently stayed at the Hideaway for our honeymoon. There were a flurry of negative reviews for the hotel on here just ahead of our stay which spooked us a little (there was a staff strike), but it's fair to say that most of the negativity is overstated in my opinion. This is a nice resort in an excellent location with fantastic sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and excellent weather. If you go, you will have a good holiday, as we did. That being said, there's a few things to take note of if you're thinking of booking. Here's our experience: - Firstly, this is not a 5* hotel. I think 4* is fair. - The food at the buffet was pretty good. We enjoyed every meal we had there. However, the restaurants were a mixed bag. We found the food here to be mostly underwhelming - with the exception of the two hideaway restaurants (dorado and ocean point). - The drinks were very good. Menu was packed with options and all were good. Only one noticeable point is that the quality often dipped late in the afternoon as the staff got a bit tired (we're all human) - Staff were generally excellent. Friendly, kind, fun. Only a small number were below that standard. - Everything is run on an app which is useful. It has an activity calendar, restaurant bookings, excursions etc... pretty useful and intuitive. - Wi-Fi coverage and speed was very good. - The hotel itself looks a bit tired. Our room was nice, with a lovely sea view, tonnes of space, and plenty of amenities. But the hotel needs some love. Plenty of poor paint jobs, ceiling plaster coming down, and tiles missing in the pools. It's not a dealbreaker by any means, and didn't really bother me too much, but a bit of TLC would really lift this hotel up. - Some reviews said checkin experience was poor and slow - but ours was speedy and efficient so no problems there. - We found that the activities infrequently ran to the times shown in the app, and in a number of cases at hideaway activities that were in the app never happened at all with no explanation. - By far the most irritating part of this hotel though, was the constant upselling. The hotel is filled with people trying to sell you additional things which really grates on you while you're on holiday. The staff at the watersports centre seemed largely uninterested in you unless you were buying an excursion, and every day we were harassed by people trying to get us to pay for a massage, a boat ride, photographs, a trip to Rick's cafe, etc. If we want any of these things, it's not difficult to seek out the people responsible for delivering them. If I'm on the beach I really don't want a pushy salesman trying to sell to me. All in all a great holiday - with a bit more investment, this place would be excellent.

Never thought I’d go to bootcamp sessions on holiday but Karli (Alpha) was brilliant. Sessions are 1/2hr and they go by so quickly. Alpha is on it! So encouraging and great circuits. Massive fan in the upstairs studio of the gym is really helpful to keep you cool. ??????

Chana from the bar and Star Fire from the vibe team were amazing they are literally the best they made our experience memorable and fun. I'm one of 24 people from our group and we all had the best time and are planning on coming back home at the hideaway.

My butlers were awesome; Kimberly and Ricardo were engaged and checked on me throughout the day!!!!!!! And Tamieka was the Best server. They were all very friendly and very attentive. Tasha Lee is very personable and makes you feel like Jamaican family.

This was my first time at this resort didn’t know what to expect. When we first got here through all the traffic . It was nice to be greeted by Violet with a drink. When I got to my room 8025 ok nice but when I pulled back the curtains to swim out yes yes this was it. I say ok nice because I do travel and had beautiful rooms. Sorry to say just nice but my opinion. The swim out part was great where it all happened. Clean pool what no dam kids wonderful happy me. Talking about kids mine one is 32 . Then I swim up to the bar an met this wonderful young lady CHANA. Wonderful soul to come in a place like this with many different people. Not knowing what to expect but Everyday she came with her A game. Smiling greeting everyone as they stepped out of their room. If she missed you when you came to bar was a smile and conversation waiting for you. Hey made me smile just knowing these people come happy everyday for these wages. WOW I couldn’t do it but different folks. All other staff was great also but CHANA WAS THAT LIGHT BEAUTIFUL SMILE ALL DAY LONG BECAUSE PEOPLE NEVER STOP COMING. I forgot about the rest of resort spent most of my time in pool. Than I met Wilton the pool guy very nice men everyday getting those leaves out . Every single staff member was nice always greeting you love that. With all this yes I would come back to a swim out but I would hope Chana would be present she is really a great person. Food was ok not a fan of try this or that but they had to my liking. One down fall for me was first day I entered the sports bar order a Caesar salad was great just salad.Ok went back on 3rd night to get a salad what I got was three whole pieces of lettuce with cheese sprinkle on top what is this so now I just wasted food. Hot water great room service was good also I like my room cleaned everyday since this was my room for a week. Just like home clean.GIVE ALL THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE A RAISE THEY DESERVE IT.
