Fairmont QE - going above and beyond to take the weariness off a long air travel day and dely

After a long flight from Europe to Montreal, we paced the airport for 9 hours before the airline ultimately decided to cancel our connecting flight to Edmonton owing to crew shortage. We were rebooked on a flight departing late the following afternoon, so we decided to make the best of it and stay at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth! We made a reservation via the Accor Website at 11pm and upon arrival - and sensing our long day and travel challenges - Lux and Axel, from the Fairmont QE front desk team provided us with a room upgrade and breakfast package. True to form - at the Fairmont QE, we slept well, dined well and had an most enjoyable morning hiking Mont Royal; and early afternoon cycling the beautiful city of Montreal to find and bring home some of the cities amazing bagels! Thanks to the entire Fairmont QE team for the hospitality - we are already looking forward to our next (planned) stay! GJAllan

The price of the room is only a minor cost of the overall cost of your stay and the penny pinching by the hotel is ridiculous, given it is supposed to be a luxury hotel. You can see through the toilet tissue and there was never any lotion in the lotion container for our entire stay. There was enough coffee for one cup each for the two of us. Luggage storage is $2.00 per piece and this is the first hotel we have ever been charged for storage and we have stayed at probably 1,000 hotels in 200 countries in the past 10 years. Brunch: $85.00 per person plus tax and an expected large tip. Tiny tiny bathroom and dirty towels were not replaced. The sink stopper would not work so you had to constantly run the water. No offer to assist with the luggage from the four bellmen visiting with each other. Stay somewhere else and use the savings to have dinner and wine somewhere else. Good access to central station though.
