We made the best of it and stayed at the hotel, even though it wasn’t exactly what we’d expected, considering the cost.

This hotel wasn’t modernized. Parking was difficult in getting a spot near your room. The staff were helpful. I enjoyed eating out at the restaurant that was located on site. The food was very tasty and priced reasonably. There was easy access to the pool area. Also there was a path to walk through to get to the water park. My family really enjoyed the water park.
Cabana Bay Hotel

The hotel’s rooms decor was not one that’s inviting. The color of the rooms seemed dated and the bedding and the beds were old looking. However, the beds were comfortable enough to accommodate three people. (1adult and 2 children) If you need a scooter, you can pick it up easily from the front desk. Having breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant was a very short walk from your room and the food was reasonably priced and delicious! The water park was easy to access from the hotel. The water park was the Bomb!!! It was a great experience for our children. The shuttle bus ride from the hotel made it so easy to travel back and forth from the Universal Studios. There was a cost of $35.00 a day for parking at the hotel. The staff members were professional at making our stay a memorable experience.
Review of a family week at Cabana Bay
César B (San Jose, Costa Rica) on Dec 09, 2024
We just got back yesterday after spending a week at Cabana Bay, from Sunday to Sunday. We stayed in a family suite for six people, located in the Continental Building, room 4665 (6th floor, with a side view of the parking lot and a partial view of Volcano Bay). Our park tickets included 5 days, 3 parks, and park-to-park access. Hotel The theme of the hotel is great! It’s quite large, so be prepared to walk a bit to get to the restaurant, lobby, and other buildings. There are two main sections of buildings, each with its own pool. To move between pools, you need to pass through the lobby, which can be inconvenient but seems intentional to manage access. The Continental pool features a lazy river, which doesn’t require a tube but is easier to enjoy with one. Sometimes you can find leftover tubes to use, or you can bring your own or purchase one there. The pool area also has a restaurant and a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine for those with refillable cups. Towels are provided and can be taken to Volcano Bay without any issue. Food We had breakfast several times and lunch twice at the hotel. The main dining area offers various options with a simple system: grab your food and pay at the registers. There are also Freestyle machines for refillable cups, microwaves, coffee stations, and utensils. Meals range from $10 to $18, with food quality rated as decent to good. Portions are generous, and there’s a variety of options, including pizza, sandwiches, meat, chicken, waffles, eggs, and more. At the pool areas, there are quick-service food options and Freestyle machines as well. Room The room was nice, and the beds were comfortable, including the sofa bed, which some reviews say is hard—but I personally found it fine and slept well. The shower is over a tub, and the pipes make some noise when running hot water, which was a bit odd but not a big issue. The room was clean, and housekeeping came every other day without fail. The fridge and microwave worked perfectly, and the room included plates and utensils. Lobby, Check-In, and Check-Out The check-in and check-out processes were quick and hassle-free. I did the check-out via email. I also received five Amazon packages during my stay and picked them up with no extra fees. Transportation to the Parks Getting to the parks is straightforward, with multiple options: Walking: About a 25-minute walk along a designated path. You can also cut through the Sapphire Falls hotel next door to take the water taxi. Shuttle Buses: These depart from the hotel’s main entrance. They’re fast, frequent, and a convenient way to avoid the tiring walk back after a long park day. Water Taxi: This option saves you from going through the main security checkpoint before CityWalk. The security screening is done before boarding the boat, and you’ll arrive near Islands of Adventure at the Margaritaville entrance.
Not amazing but not terrible.

Honestly the staff at this hotel were great! Even Starbucks I seen someone write they were rude. We went everyday and they were all super nice. We had one grumpy bartender at the lobby bar she was not very pleasant but the rest of the bartenders were sooo nice and amazing! Now the hotel itself. The lobby and outside is very well maintained and looks super nice. However the rooms were very disappointing. They were dated and definitely worn down I wish I would have booked one of the neighbouring hotels like I originally was going to they looked a little nicer. We had a volcano bay view which was neat but the room was small and there was a lot worn down. I would say if the price is right then book here. I will say our room was clean and I had a good sleep on the beds but for a hotel not being very old it needs some repairs in its rooms. The pizza was good we didn’t try anything else because there was better food elsewhere. Shuttle service was very good. We really enjoyed the pool and lazy river!! I would stay here again but not for the price we stayed.
Very nice but...

There are many positives about this hotel ... the location, the pools, the lazy river, the variety of food options in the dining area, friendly staff, and the Starbucks. Unfortunately there were also things that tempered our experience: Although our room felt clean, the main hallways were stained, dirty, and often had an unpleasant odor. To get into your building you unlock an outside gate with your room key, and then walk through a small garden area to the door leading into your building. This could be a cute area, but we were there for a week and this area was always filled with tall (6 ft maybe?) laundry carts overflowing with laundry. It definitely cheapened the feel of the hotel.
