18% gratuity, no thanks.

Fantastic hotel and would love to stay there again and it would have been 5 stars all the way except there were a couple of small things. People tend to slam doors shut including the service staff to the point it would shake the walls, they would even leave the latch on when servicing a room so the door worn close fully. This means the door slams on the latch and bounces repeatedly, when you are trying to sleep it’s incredibly annoying. The pool side bar and I don’t know if this was at all bars but the hotels policy is to charge 18% gratuity when you pay the bill, besides this being ridiculous and making the whole American tipping culture a joke the tip should be optional and mandatory. We were charged this when all the server did was hand me a drink and not make it, no amazing service just opening a bottle.
Goodish

My third time staying at this hotel. Lovely area, nice room & facilities, everything as expected. If I had to criticise I would say the last thing you want as you’re checking in after a nine hour flight and a very long day is having to have a conversation about not wanting to have a daily amount of $ put on your card for spends (would have run into literally thousands for our two week stay) no quibbles at all when we said we didn’t want to have to accept this “offer” but still seems like a underhand ploy to encourage you to spend more. We were also not granted the room we requested even though the hotel received & replied to our request - I fully understand it’s not guaranteed to have this request honoured but I do feel that someone staying for 14 nights should have priority over people staying a couple of nights or even a week, wouldn’t mind if it was a adjoining room with a similar view but the view we had was quite disappointing, basically of the front of the hotel of endless vehicles dropping guests off. I also think that if you are staying in an expensive top grade hotel such as this you really shouldn’t have to pay extra for better Wi-Fi. Would I stay here again? Possibly, we still enjoyed our stay but was the least enjoyable of the three times when we have chosen this hotel.
