Polynesian Management & Accommodations STINK

Dan W on Oct 30, 2024

Construction starts right outside your room slightly before 7am. The shaking, rattling, saw cutting, and worker conversation is a great feature! The best feature was management's apathetic attitude towards hard working families paying $1k/night. Especially after spending $1k to go to the Halloween party the night before. We returned from the party at 11pm only to have my young children startled by smashing, rattling, and cutting as the saw horse was 10' from our window. Dealing with cranky kids, who weren't able to get enough sleep, at Disney is a blast! Nice or the management to offer us $300 off of our $8k vacation at a "deluxe resort." I would have rather slept in our rental car in the parking lot. We've spent well over $100,000 at Disney over the past decade and we get a "sorry, they need to get the tower done to stay on schedule." Our travel agent was told that construction was to start after 9:00am by TWO separate Disney reps on the phone. The hotel denied it and said Florida state law allows them to start at 7:00am. Great way to treat guests. Disney has lost its appreciation for customers and only cares about the bottom line. They take their customers for granted. It shows in their actions. Dump.

Disappointed in what Disney has become

John H on Oct 21, 2024

This is one of the first detailed reviews I’ve ever written, but I am hoping this helps somebody. We’ve been going to the Polynesian for a long time, first when we were kids and now as adults with our own kids. The last time was four years ago and the experience was still mostly positive. That basically ended on our trip last week. Although the basic theming is still there, any sense of “Disney magic” is now gone. Not just at the hotel but also in the parks. Everything now is almost robotic with any of the nice things now gone. At first, Disney claimed some things were “pandemic related” but that’s no longer an excuse. It used to be that when you walked into any Disney deluxe hotel there were people there to greet and welcome you. That’s all gone. We stayed in the Moorea building and noticed several areas in disrepair. The room itself was fine although we were placed too close to the ferry terminal and had to listen to the loud horn until after midnight every night. Because we stayed in a DVC room we “rented” they apparently don’t offer housekeeping – we only were able to get the room made up once during our 10-night stay which was not acceptable given the extreme cost. Also meant no nice towel animals the housekeeping staff used to make that we loved seeing after a long day in the parks. We looked forward to an Ohana dinner, only to find they no longer bring out the different meats on long skewers, now they just dump the meal on the table and leave. Another experience ruined. From no characters in the hotel at all, to overcrowding at the pools and extreme pricing we will never visit Disney again until something drastic changes. There are more unfortunate examples of this – will give one more. One of our normal highlights is dinner at Cinderella’s castle. As soon as you head in there is normally pictures setup with Cinderella. No more, at least not for us. What used to be a special event for my daughters was just a rushed dinner as they tried to squeeze more reservations in. Barely got photos with the princesses during dinner. The key rides like Tron and Rise of the Resistance are incredible but not enough to overcome blatant disregard for resort guests or any level of customer appreciation or support.
