Shut this property down!
wbsCA (Newport Beach, California) on Apr 03, 2025
This property needs to be closed & torn down. I’m embarrassed for Marriott & our unaware Travel Planner for utilizing this “hotel” for a Reunion of 50+ Professionals in their seventies. No lounge, bar or... restaurant area to commune. Separate, spread-out “buildings” with rooms, not in one location. No elevators! Building, stairs & furniture chipped badly. Extremely old, outdated decor & worn, stained carpet. Damaged, fiberglass shower. Unbelievable for a Marriott property. Not just me, EVERYONE in our group complained about shredded upholstery, warped mattresses & broken decor. Just an awful, unnecessary experience when there’s so many proper hotels to stay in the area. Never again!
Old, beaten-up musty room, sagging bed, dirty floor - steer clear

Oooh boy -- stay away. Did not expect this long-in-the-tooth Residence Inn to be quite this bad. I might have said what-the-hey if this was like $99 night -- but it was $325. I'm beginning to think Marri...ott has lost its mind. Beaten-up old, chipped, damaged cabinets in kitchen and bath; musty odor; old-as-the-hills mattress sagging to the point that the bed became a literally concave. And I'm a relatively small person who was not placing a lot of weight on the bed. Kitchen floor had some sort of dirt or sand spilled all over the place. Clearly the room was not well-cleaned between guests. Plates, spoons etc were grimy and had to be washed before use. Silverware drawer was littered with food residue. Doors to the room - both front and to the back patio - were also very old and dirty. And the fact that anyone could have easily broken in to this room through the flimsy back-door window set-up was disconcerting. I was relieved to be there for just one night. The decline in Marriott properties overall post-pandemic has been precipitous, while they just keep gouging on rates, resort fees, parking, gift shop etc. Been loyal to Marriott more than 40 years, but I think this is the end of the road for me.
