Two weeks at Dreams Onyx for a family vacation was very enjoyable. Check in was alright but, we certainly didn’t feel like we were valued customers. We have stayed extensively at Dreams Secrets Zoetry Hyatt for decades and thus are very familiar with the standards provided consistently. We booked a Premium Pool View Suite and requested a higher floor. Instead, we were given a ground floor with absolutely no view expect other guests lying on sunbeds near the waterpark. When we asked about the room assignment, we were brushed off the resort is fully booked. The following day we actually complained to a supervisor and were offered a room on a higher floor. We did decline the move as by that time were fully unpacked and settle, the point I am making is that we shouldn’t have to complain to be accommodated as we had booked months ago. The resort is absolutely beautiful and is maintained to a very high standard throughout. Housekeeping keeps the suites spotless; the floors everywhere are gleaming. The minibar was stocked with a variety of drinks and there was no issue with special requests of whatever you prefer. Towels and supplies both in your suite and at the beach/pools were in abundance. Almost anything you would request would be provided by the exceptional staff. With the exception of our check in experience every member of the staff were exceptional and consistently provided superior services. Overall, the food was very good, the Bluewater Steakhouse Grill was our favorite with the Mexican being a close second. That said the Italian and the French were both quite good. There is a new American restaurant the food there too was good but, not quite up to the standards of the other restaurants. Excellent Beach grill burgers hotdogs fries etc. An extensive buffet with something for everyone. In all venues restaurants and bars the service provided was in my opinion fantastic, the staff were very appreciative of all gratuities they received for their superior services provided. Beautiful sandy beach and turquoise clear warm waters of the ocean were so nice as were the multitude of swimming pools, lazy rivers and the waterpark. The waterpark has several slides a lazy river with good quality floatation devices. For the slides you must be 4’6” tall and 9 years old. Inside our suite was spotless throughout our stay, well supplied and stocked. A lovely bathroom with a full sized walk in shower, two sinks and a private toilet. Everything worked well except the USB ports, the AC and fan kept the suite as cool as you like. The king bad have variety of pillows and was very comfortable for our entire two week stay. This is a very family friendly resort, that does have some adult only facilities and I would without hesitation highly recommend Dreams Onyx for a family vacation holiday.

My wife and I visited the Dreams Onyx resort while staying at the nearby Breathless resort. Guests at the 2 resorts have free access to the neighboring resort. The Dreams resort is a family resort, while Breathless is adults only. We were in Punta Cana in mid November before the Thanksgiving break. When we visited, the Dreams resort had families, but not many school age children. We did see a lot of strollers and very young children. Our guess is this resort gets very crowded with school age children during school breaks. Some of the amenities that Dreams has that Breathless doesn't have is a water park with water slides and a lazy river, a sports bar, an ice cream shop, a game room and an indoor theater for nightly entertainment. The Dreams resort is a popular wedding destination. One day we were there, we saw 3 weddings. The restaurants are very similar between the 2 resorts. They obviously share recipes. The presentation of the food is very similar. The Dreams resort buffet has a larger variety of food choices. The Dreams resort has several pools. They have a large pool for everyone, a small salt water pool, Some smaller pools suitable for families with young children and they also have pools for their preferred club members. We would rank the pool choices at Dreams a little better than Breathless, especially if you paid extra for the preferred club. We sat mostly by the children's pool area. Since there weren’t many children around, this was the quietest place. We also enjoyed a lot of attention from the wait staff in providing drinks to us. There is also a water park. It has a lazy river with tubes, several water slides and its own bar. Dreams had a bar that opens at 4 PM every day for pre-dinner drinks. They also had comfortable seating nearby. We enjoyed this feature several days. If you wait long enough, around 6 PM, they had musical entertainment. Some days they have live music and other days they have a DJ. The sports bar is a fun amenity at Dreams. Obviously they have several TV’s. The bar was very well supplied with several liquors we did not find anywhere else (including the bars at Breathless). They have dart boards, pool tables and a Foosball table. The bar was very popular on Sundays. The ice cream shop was very nice. You could get ice cream any time without going to the buffet. They also carried sherbet. The theater was very nice. We enjoyed excellent drink service while we there. The best show we saw was the Queen cover band. The Preferred Club looks like it would be worth the extra cost. They have 2 pools for preferred club members. One pool is for families. The other pool is adults only. The adult pool is very large and has its own bar. The Preferred club has a lounge with comfortable seating, TV’s and a bar.
