Juan is the best at the VIP bar. Best kept secret on the resort. We have met so many great people here. As a member, it is great to help people checking it to answer questions they may have. Great resor...t. Totally recommend all the restaurants. The Butcher was really good.

Grand Sirenis Riveria Maya Resort 1.75 thumbs up.

The resort was beautiful, the beaches, pool area, lobby, restaurants were beautifully done. The one area that was lacking was the room itself, it was a bit dated. The food was alright, the drinks were good... except the cheap vodka that is used there. The vodka is terrible. Lobby is odd, you need to check in at one lobby and go to the other to catch your shuttle. Then when you check out, you check out at the lobby where you catch your shuttle. Seemed a little odd. Check in and check out was a breeze. The room: it was clean but dated. End of the week it smelled like mildew however, it is the jungle so that is to be expected. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The TV was new, we were able to chromecast and watch our netflix. The control panel was updated so it controlled the a/c, fan and a do not disturb option. Water was hot and plentiful in the bathroom. The jets in the whirlpool hot tub did not work. It was nice to have a soak though. Housekeeping and mini bar stocker were nice and did a good job of replenishing and cleaning. Buffet/Restaurants: the buffet was clean and fairly large. Lots of options at dinner time. However, I think a better job could be done with separating fish, seafood from the other food. I have a food allergy and was disappointed as they had fish next to the prime rib so I couldn’t have that. There are a lot of chances for cross-contamination. The breakfast buffet was good! Lots of options, fresh fruit, juices and freshly made omelettes, pancakes etc. All servers and wait staff were excellent. The restaurants are lovely as well. We had a lot of fun at the Japanese restaurant. Pool/Lazy River: We only made it to one pool and the lazy river. The pool by the Aura bar was smaller with some fun activities. The bartenders were great and made drinks quickly. I never felt like I had to wait for drinks at all. Lots of seating and not a lot of coatis around either so that was nice. The lazy river is relaxing, I recommend having your own floaty though, the tubes are good but were uncomfortable. I ended up buying a floaty there and enjoyed being able to go around without having to wait for the next tube. Definitely recommend going to lazy river with a beverage. Beach: The beach was beautiful! Some spots are a little rocky so we wore our watershoes. You don’t need too but for our comfort level we choose too. If you go past the beach to the smaller beach that takes you to the ruins, you can snorkel and see the fish there. That was cool. I would have spent more time there. There is a lot of seating, some of the blue and white loungers could be replaced as they are sagged out. There are a couple of bars and restaurants there. If was nice to go in the shade and have a bit while enjoying the view. Bars: The Black Sheep you can get some food there. It’s alright. Servers and bartenders were great there. Wish I caught the names. The Sky Bar was fun. We would gather there after the shows or after dinner. There is a waitress there that was phenomenal! I wish I got her name. The best bar, by far, was the Marimba Mixology Bar. We would go there before and after dinner. Fredy, Angel and William were absolutely superb. My husband named his drink Delicioso so whenever they seen him coming, they would say Delicioso and have his drink ready for him. I loved watching Fredy make smoked drinks, he made a fantastic smoked margarita, I think that’s the best drink I ever had. These guys were so nice and kind to us. We enjoyed visiting them while they worked, they really made us feel so very welcome. The Shows: The shows were fun and you can tell the entertainment team put a lot of effort in making the shows fun and professional. I was pleased! Overall, it was the people of this resort that really made this resort feel special. They all are so kind and wonderful. I thanked them for their hospitality and for making us feel so welcome and comfortable.
