A solid B

The Good: the layout is fantastic, the grounds are beautiful, the sunset just awesome. The beach is quiet. It’s in a cove, protected by a seawall. The rooms are large and generally well kept the shower is... amazing. The Jacuzzi in the room was definitely a wonderful add-on. The food at the Zen Teppanyaki was great and the whole experience wonderful I wish more of the Restaurants were like that. Our experience of the restaurants went from awful the first night to wonderful last night. The pools were wonderful. The instructors for the aqua fit which I did every day were awesome. The hideaway pool was a lap pool, which allowed me to swim and that was great very few hotels linked to offer that kind of experience for guests. The bad: there were some maintenance issues. The elevator in our building number three was very temperamental occasionally it would not stop at certain floors; once it dropped, and sometimes it would just go up and down without opening the door. When I reported it, the problem was addressed immediately. The covering for the lock to get into our door, fell off several times. They were painting the exterior of the place while we were there. The painters got him as much paint on the plants as they did on the building and then somebody had to go around with a power hose to try to get the paint up. It would seem more efficient to just put down a tarp so the paint didn’t splatter everywhere. Literally there was paint on the windows on the plants on the sidewalk. It was just a bit of a mess. There was a lot of construction noise in the morning, especially on the hideaway side, where we were, which given that there were a lot of honeymooners felt inconsiderate. If I were ever to go again, I would book building one or building six both face directly on ocean. The others are also wonderful, but you get more of the noise bounce back from the evening activities. But frankly were I to return to St. Lucia I would rent a villa or apartment at Cap Maison or Rodney Bay and actually experience place. None of the staff looked happy to work there. I would use the word lackadaisical. There were very few smiles and generally, you had to wait for someone to knowledge your presence. Even the people at the front desk who did smile, their smiles felt fake, and not actually welcoming. And they really seems like they were just waiting to get off the clock . I read elsewhere that there has been staff cuts and morale was low. That aligned with my observation. I almost felt like the whole staff should be given a free week at the place or something to Raise morale. Drinks were mediocre and I often had to go back and ask for an adjustment. The best meal we had was at the Benihana style Japanese restaurant. The Italian place was mediocre although dessert was good. The buffet wasn’t bad. A lot of the food seemed either canned or frozen. The beef offerings were all delicious. I wish they had more local food offerings. Unfortunately, my husband got sick so we couldn’t enjoy any of the excursion so that we booked one.
3.5 out of 5

Beautiful resort and beach but better customer service in the main buffet required, needs better management skills for this resort as at times seems very disorganized (no beer or champagne???) Bartenders n...eed training on making drinks (not the best) but very entertaining. Nightly shows were disappointing. Overall the food was fantastic but service in some restaurants and bars are slow and lack motivation. Great beach, sun and food! Very relaxing Avoid the armadillo restaurant. I rate it 3.5 out of 5.
Don’t recommend

The room was nice, but the A/C wasn’t working at capacity. Service was hit or miss. 10% of staff was friendly and welcoming. 90% seemed like they didn’t want to be here. Food sucks, Zen was the best restau...rant, the others are all graded D. Drinks weren’t too good. Some bartenders knew how to make a drink and others were just winging it. Very inconsistent. Martini bar ran out of vermouth and olives and never really restocked. Same with mint for mojitos, ran out of mint and never restocked for the rest of our stay. They also ran out of tequila , so no margaritas for two days. We were Diamond members and had a butler each day. It was nice, but not sure it was worth having a butler. Our butlers were very good and we have no complaint about them. Overall, this resort is one of the worst I’ve stayed in, and I’ve stayed in many in the Caribbean and in the pacific. I don’t recommend this resort, try Sandals in St Lucia.
Best Massage Ever

While I did not have the best experience at the resort overall, I had an amazing experience at the Royal Spa. My spa therapist was Zenith. Hands down the best massage I have ever had and I have had plenty.... She was professional, skilled at what she does and attentive to my needs. Thank you Zenith for an incredible massage.
