Diamond Club beach ruined with jet skiis
Samar D on Dec 21, 2024
Diamond Club beach is ruined with the jet skiis. It's the sandiest and nicest beach, but they park jet skiis right in the middle of it. The guys keep reving the engines overlading us with the smell of gas. Really a waste of a beautiful beach. I will add to my review once I get back. Lots to talk about but this is the worst part of the experience.
Not quite as expected

This hotel was not what we expected from Royalton. We have been to St.Lucia 19 years ago staying at sandals in the same area so we knew about the 2 hour transfer, and the roads are better now than 19 years ago, so this was not a problem, and you cannot compare Sandal’s with any Royalton as the price difference is massive. However the Royalton fell very short on expectations, definitely not 4 star. The down escalator did not work the whole 2 weeks, the lift from reception to ground level did not work, and our lift in block 5 did not work for 4 days, the only thing that was said “ it will keep us fit” for those guests with disabilities had a nightmare. The food was good in all al a cart restaurants although the Grazie Italian we found poor, Hunters Steak house, Calypso Caribbean food and Zen Teppanyaki were all very good, Armadillo was ok, as was the buffet which had a good selection. The bars were not working well as waiting for a drink was long winded and you did dot always got what you asked for, cocktails were very poor, all slush and not consistent, either to strong, weak or flat, first time we have been all inclusive and not found a drink we liked over the 2 weeks, for a hotel of this standard to have no glass washer is poor, you have to wait for bar staff to hand wash a glass before you get a drink. The only time we had a nice drink was when we had our dinner sparkling wine was good. With the drinks being a big part of all inclusive this was a massive negative. The night time entertainment was dreadful, the only good acts were solo singers between 7pm and 8pm, but that is missed by us and most others due to eating dinner, the main entertainment at 9 pm is so amateur and cringy with the same people doing different acts, apart from some bought in, but all below par for this type of hotels expectations, hence not many people still there at the end of their performance. The beach was good, the top pool good, bottom pool near the beach was poor, It’s good to have a bit of music throughout the day, but this was over the top, banging loudly most of the day, which even got annoying after a while on the beach which was next to the bottom pool. Even the water aerobics was loud, and annoying with the staff shouting top of their voices through the amps. The rain is expected on this island which is fine, however no cushions are taken in at night, so wet in the mornings, when we had a quick shower in the day which was usually heavy, the beds afterwards are useless as they are too wet to use, no replacements are available, there are a few water proof sun-beds cushions around the top pool, these need to be on every sun-bed. The trips we went on were very good, we had a driver for the day which is by far the best way to see the island, Ryan was brilliant took us every where we wanted to go, pitons, mud baths, volcano, lunch, waterfalls and more and took some great photos of us. We also went to tree top trams in the rain forest which was very good, and the Friday street party is a must do. Overall St Lucia is a great island in the Caribbean and a must visit place with very friendly locals a place where you could recommend to your friends, but this hotel as it is now needs to up its game and get back to how it was 5 years ago, as this hotel was recommended to us by friends who stayed here then and could not fault it at all, they were disappointed when we told them of our experience. I have just got a quote from Tui for the same holiday, same time, same room, next year there is an increase of £1500 per person, we did not find this year was value for money so I do not understand how Tui could increase the price by this amount, probably not the hotels fault.

2 hr bus transfer from airport on winding roads..that no one mentions in large enough print to be noticed. They ask you if you get motion sickness before they let you in the car.If you do have motion sickness, you will have to pay over $200 to take a helicopter from the local airport.Good luck This Has to be the worst. Food experience I have ever had at an all inclusive. It is also the most expensive all inclusive resort AND IT IS NOT LUXURY. Very tiny beach not a walking beach. Disapointing murkey water. Rains on and off everyday.. staff attitude is overall nasty a few of the bar staff are nice...they know how bad this food is and when you mention it they say there is fresh food in town...why can't they bbq fresh fish on the beach????..its done in Cuba..the food is even better in Cuban resorts..and everyone knows the food is sub par there..We had instant Diarreah from the lobby food display..Absolutely no excuse..the meat is good in the steakhouse and teppanyaki..no fresh fish ..avoid Italian at Grazie broken spaghetti in instant kraft sauce that was disgusting!! Frozen shellfish bad quality no herbs no tase like paste no tomato sauce no pesto no fresh basil or oregano. WHY... IT CAN BE GROWN ON SITE!! .ok mini pizza but no tomato sauce ...seriously You should be ashamed of yourselves I feel so ripped off and I'm counting the days to go home . ALTHOUGH ITS A pretty resort with lovely grounds the room has a toxic air problem .AND.WE.haven't stopped coughing since we got into the room..ITS SUCH A SHAME.THAT THIS RESORT IS SO POORLY MANAGED IT COULD BE LOVELY BUT ITS LIKE BEING IN A MIRAGE JAIL FULL OF TOXIC FOOD, AIR,AND PEOPLE!!!!
Not a 5 star !!

This hotel is not 5 star ( I’d say 3 star ) staff look like the don’t want to be there … fed up of being there, and every thing in between that ! New Wardrobes needed, mine have come away at the joints. Room smells damp. Swim up room’s patio pool area should be cleaned daily ( still has the dead ants on there that I killed) disinfectant will and does go a long way. Hotel management should be doing daily observation checks Everywhere…. Not just the grass and plants. Buffet area -no mobile phones use during work time in the buffet restaurant by staff, that should be a standard rule……hospitality retraining is needed regularly by staff and management as I sit there eating, I cannot believe they are using there phones. There should be regular site checks and room checks I will never stay here again!!!!! The vendors on the beach are verrry pushy intimidating and annoying selling custom made bracelets! Out of there rucksacks ( please !) they are constantly shouting, arguing with each other and swearing in patois …. I will never come back here again !
Not 5 star luxury

I have just returned from a 9 night stay at the Royalton. I don't write reviews but must do about this one. Firstly after a 9 hour flight it was a 2 hour transfer in roads up mountains and hairpin bends, driving conditions were not good as it was pouring with rain. A lady on our minibus had to stop twice to vomit. We were warned about the conditions before settling off, not great. We arrived at the hotel lift wasn't working and neither was the down escalator, it took6 days to fix, only after the up escalator stopped working as well. Guests were taking photos and posting on social media. At first glance room was very good but after a couple of days you noticed stains on the furniture and wardrobe coming apart. Toilet needed 3 flushes at times to be clear. Service was the worst I have expected in any holiday hotel. Some of the staff were very good and friendly but s lot just couldn't be bothered. When you finally got a drink it was the wrong one ordered and after waiting 20 minutes for it, you just accepted it. The food is excellent no problem there, plenty of choice and the grounds are well looked after and immaculate. Excursions booked at the hotel are good value for money. The complex is stand alone nothing around it to walk to or see, so you have to rely on excursions to get around bearing in mind the roads are not good. The sunbeds are quite stained and worn need replacing. Overall the island is nice but far better hotels to stop at on other Caribbean islands, I will not be returning.
