Warning: Long Review, but if you are thinking of staying here, DONT. Do NOT stay here. It is unclean, dangerous and nothing but lies. WestJet should not even have this resort as an option on the list! I’ll start with the cleanliness. -Not a single person was seen cleaning any area of the resort until 2 days before we left. -Rain caused huge puddles of water inside the resort, none of which were cleaned up. Just one sign on the stairs to mark “slippery when wet”. My senior mother travelled with us and she slipped when we got relocated inside the building for two night's, causing torn ligaments in her leg. When asked if our hallway could be mopped up due to the slip and fall, it took us asking them three times and a final freak out before it was done. -No toilet paper and broken toilets in most public bathrooms. -No soap in any public bathrooms. -Finger prints on every surface and window. -Stains on sheets, pillows and mattresses. -Almost everything was broken, from doors to handles and towel hangers. The place needs a complete overhaul. Moving onto Dangerous. -The place has hardly no working lights. The rough cobblestone roads were dark the entire time we stayed here. You had to use a phone flashlight to get around after dark. -The floors inside were almost always wet from rain leaking through the windows, causing slippery floors and stairs. No one mopped anything up to try and remedy the problem. -Broken furniture collapsed when sat in. -Cross contamination with food at every meal, with no regards to food safety at all. Now to the lies. -We arrived and were told we could upgrade to a bungalow, it was “very nice” and a better experience, they said. So we did. The first one they tried to put us in was dirty, no bed sheets or pillows on the beds, dirty toilet and broken furniture. We got moved to one that was cleaner but soon found out a lot was broken in this one as well. Trying to stay positive as it was the first day, we just let it go… -Went to the bar for some pina coladas for the kids, it’s a featured menu item, but they didn’t have it. They actually didn’t have much on the menu. So be prepared for an underwhelming experience. - Never trust the front desk to actually do anything. They will tell you that they will send someone or “report a problem” and it will be swept under the rug. -This resort has 1 buffet and 2 a la carte restaurants. The food options are awful. When I was told Cuba had flavourless food, I wasn’t to concerned, but when I got here and saw the options at the buffet.. I actually cried. I am a recovering diabetic and there was no healthy options. No eggs, only one or two green vegetables (cucumber and okra), three choices for fruit (papaya, pineapple or watermelon), no porridge, no cheese…. The list goes on. This place was a nightmare from day one, and we tried our best to be positive but as the days went on and the lack of care for any concerns we had didn’t help our moods. If you are a senior or have a senior travelling with you, STAY AWAY. If you have any special food requirements, STAY AWAY. No working elevators, tripping and slipping hazards everywhere and lack of lighting makes it a dangerous place to stay. Since my entire review was negative, because that’s the overall experience we had, I will say one positive thing. The beach is beautiful and full of life, it was the one thing that we thoroughly enjoyed for the duration of our stay.

The Starfish Varadero is a gem in the heart of Varadero, and my stay there was nothing short of fantastic! The standout feature? The absolutely incredible animation team! Their boundless energy, creativity, and passion for entertaining guests truly made my vacation unforgettable.Despite the difficult situation with the hurricane, the entire team of hotel workers knew how to make us feel at home ??. From morning yoga sessions to lively evening shows, they kept the fun going all day long. The activities were well-organized and suited for all ages, ensuring everyone had a great time.
