Typical Marriott convention-type hotel.

BrooklynRider (Brooklyn, NY) on Jun 25, 2024

We selected this property as we are Marriott Titanium Rewards Members. There are other Marriott properties in Waikiki, but TripAdvisor reviews deemed the services at them as “inconsistent”. We didn’t want to get aggravated on vacation. This is a huge hotel with two 24-Story towers. If you are booking here, request a room in the Keaholani Tower. (The spelling might be wrong, but it is close.) This tower is closer to the beach. The ground level has the lobby, which we thought missed a great opportunity for some fantastic theming. We were disappointed that there were no bellman at the port cochere. We are on an extended trip around the island and had three suitcases and two back packs. We had to haul them into the lobby and up to our rooms ourselves. We even walked past the bell desk and the bellmen behind the counter didn’t offer to help. For the management likely to respond to this, we didn’t speak to a manager or bring it up at check-in, because we were there and that was over and done. Other than that service was good. We had made an initial reservation. Later we decided to extend it. We were unable to combine it with our existing reservation, but Jamie in reception easily fixed that for us. (Thank you.) We had an ocean front room on three 18th floor with fantastic views of the beach. The lobby was bland and at no time did we feel compelled to use it. Our tower was on the beach side of the hotel and the exit to the beach was in the opposite direction. We didn’t eat at any restaurants there, so we could explore other places and hotels in Waikiki. For those wondering if the location is good, the beach is across the street and the hotel provides Tommy Bahama beach chairs to carry over to the sand. Having a better understanding of Waikiki the hotel is at the eastern end of the beach. In retrospect, the hotels at the west side of Waikiki were on the beach (no crossing streets) and had more of that beach resort feel. They conveyed a much more Hawaiian atmosphere. They had ample, free chairs and umbrella’s and were more geared to guests. The beach in front of the Marriott was a public beach. The Sheraton Waikiki had the best pool of the west Waikiki hotels with rocks and waterfalls; however, that pool is shared with the Royal Hawaiian next door. The Sheraton was recently renovated and has a great lobby. The Royal Hawaiian had beautiful grounds. The Outrigger Waikiki Beach resort was next door. This place has the very popular (and overrated) Duke’s restaurant; the hotel was crowded and very noisy due to the constant influx of outside guests and the bands / DJs playing on the patio. Seats were difficult to secure, because hotel guests and outside guests competed for everything. I’d pass on this hotel. The Moana Surfrider (Westin) is an historic hotel, which is quite beautiful with a courtyard that has spectacular banyan trees and that great Hawaiian feel. If there is a next visit, we’d stay at one of these hotel, which have stunning views of Diamond Head. I wouldn’t necessarily say not to stay at the Marriott, but be prepared for a large convention type hotel.

Waikiki Marriott Resort

John L on Jun 18, 2024

This Marriott Resort is decent and clean. And the staff are very accommodating. It is located across the street from the beach. It’s very conveniently located in walking distance of near by restaurants, zoo, and tons of ABC stores. It’s a good 15-20 minutes walk to the main shopping area.
