This review is for Fairway Villas-Waikoloa PARKING: each unit is assigned a parking spot, if someone else is parked if your spot, expect nothing to be done. If it’s after hours, you’ll be told “just park in a spot that’s not reserved and then figure it out tomorrow” and during hours, the office person will write it down and do nothing. AND if you happen to see property staff riding around on a golf cart, you’ll be told, there’s not much they can do other than put a note on the other car. It’s frustrating to pay so much money and not be able to park in designated spot that’s actually near your unit. POOL: salt water infinity pool that’s heated and a hot tub! Really nice!! UNIT K2: I don’t even know where to start. Upon arrival, beds were not completely made or even put in the right place (bed was pulled away from the wall I’m assuming to “make it up” and just left out in the middle of the floor instead of being bc pushed back against the wall. Another bedroom, the top cover wasn’t even put on all the way. There was a couple of dead mosquitos that had been squished on the wall and just left (bug guts and all.) The furniture was so rickety I was worried it would fall apart when I put my suitcase on it. I was a little relieved when I noticed a luggage rack/stand in the closet so pulled it out and was disappointed again when it was broken. A cooler, beach chairs, umbrella, and towels were provided but didn’t count on the beach chairs because they were broken. We had three people staying in the unit. There was more than enough bath towels (3 per person), hand towels (2-3 person), and beach towels (2 per person) but only one washcloth per person for a week’s stay. When asked the office staff about extra washcloths, she stated “well they only provide enough for each person.” On a positive note, the view was pretty! EXTRAS: Queens marketplace is super convenient and close by! It’s expensive but I think that’s just Hawaii in general. Lots of options for anyone you’re traveling with! Cute stores for shopping! Starbucks ???? Lava Lava Beach Club: super expensive (again I think that’s just Hawaii) but they will validate your parking for 3 hours! Do not pay for parking before entering the restaurant, make sure you know your tag number and they’ll take care of it before they seat you. A-bay beach-it’s open to the public so it can get crowded, make sure you park in the free lot so you don’t get a ticket.
Do not stay in D31

Pros: -Roomy condos that allow families to “stretch out” and have some meals in room -Pool is slightly heated so not ice cold like some resorts -walking distance to Kings and Queens shopping centers Cons: -each unit is independently owned so there is no quality standard - even if you book direct through the Outrigger -D31 is badly in need of replacement mattresses, pillows and bedding -the furniture is mismatched and not comfortable (including what’s on the patio) -the TV didn’t work upon arrival -the shower squeals loudly when running -I keep finding dirty dishes in the cupboards
Very lovely property in the beautiful Waikoloa area!

The property and area are beautiful, but we had several annoying experiences while staying there that we were not happy about! For several days, they were doing repaving at the property which caused a nightmare in trying to get in and out of the property and park! For three mornings in a row the workers woke us up with making very loud noises drilling up and replacing tiles along the walkway in condo unit C where we were staying! The vertical blinds in condo C31 were broken and didn't completely shut. The dishwasher didn't work and get our dishes clean, so we had to hand wash our dishes during the entire stay! The property manager did take off money from our bill for the inconvenience! In spite of everything we experienced on this trip, we would stay at the lovely Fairway Villas again. As a heads up: The Fairway Villas Condo complex property is only accessible with a gate code when driving up to get in the property. Going to see the gorgeous property of the Hilton Waikoloa Village is a must see, and is just a very short drive away down from the condo! Also a must see is the awesome Volcanoes National Park! There were areas of Volcanoes National Park that even looked like a fern/tropical forest! We drove through Hilo to see the volcanoes twice during our stay, and it only took us 1 1/2 hours to drive on Saddle Road from Fairway Villas to Hilo. We drove the Hawaii Belt 11 road/Mamalahoa Hwy going to the volcanoes on one of those days. I thought Saddle Road was the best way to go to Volcanoes National Park, even though my family enjoyed both scenic routes to get there.
Big Island of Hawaii

We booked this condo through Costco Travel, which included a standard size car from Costco. It was a 2 bedroom/2 bath with the view of the golf course and pool. It didn't disappoint. It was very spacious, clean, close to shopping and it was on the West side of the big Island of Hawaii, so we had virtually no rain. We'd defiantly stay there again and book through Costco Travel
Fairway villas by outrigger - not an outrigger resort
sharll_13 (Vancouver, Canada) on Feb 12, 2020
If you think you are renting an “outrigger” property- you are not. Each unit at fairway villas is privately owned, which means some units are spectacular, while some are dated. Hotels have pretty standard rooms, which means you are getting a level of service. When you rent from Outrigger at this resort, there is no guarantee. Better to rent from South Kohala at this resort as they are more transparent about which unit you are getting. Outrigger makes it seem like they own the place. They don’t. They should not be allowed to advertise as if they own or control the property
