Great location, good value for family travels

mcmug2002 (Burlington, Canada) on Aug 17, 2024

We stayed at the Residence Inn in Moncton for two nights while transiting through NB to PEI. Great location - central to downtown main street and right next to the Tidal Bore park. The rooms were clean, roomy and comfortable. The breakfast was a bit of a zoo on the weekend. They were not ready to serve the large groups of guests that come through between 8.30-9.30am. Kitchen couldn't keep up with food / coffee / clean plates. Also a struggle to find a table (they finally turned one of the meeting room on 2nd floor as an eating area, which helped with the crowd). Parking on site is a bit pricey...but in downtown Moncton, parking is free on the weekend so we just parked on the side of the road. Overall a pretty good stay - will come back again if we're in the area.

Good location, could use some attention but generally good overall

Jonavin (Markham) on Aug 12, 2024

Stayed in Moncton as our central point to visit NB, PEI and NS. Location was pretty good. Not far from highway and right next to the Tidal Bore park. Overall the rooms were clean, roomy and comfortable. Love having a full kitchen for extended stay. Minor issues I do want to make note of is a broken shower dispenser and towel bar that falls apart when we touched it. Minor issues, and I forgot to tell front desk about these. The breakfast are just seems like it's not large enough for the number of guests they have. So every day it's a struggle to find a table if you have a family. Individuals and couples should have no problems with the bar stool type setup on the sides. They also have a have time keep the hot food supplied but the staff did their best. The gym has treadmill, elliptical, free weights, towels and filtered water dispenser. The pool is not big but serviceable. Minor issue is that the pool was filled to one foot lower than the depth markings during our stay; so that was a bit disappointing. The on premise parking can be challenging during the evenings as there is a Keg at the hotel but I didn't have a situation where I couldn't find parking, just a bit further into the underground section, which isn't so obvious despite the signs. For those with Marriot Platinum Elite or higher, parking was free.

Comfortable beds and rooms

Henry W (Milton Keynes, United Kingdom) on Aug 01, 2024

Large comfortable rooms and very comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast has all the usual options and good decaffeinated coffee. Helpful and respectful staff. Fire alarm that night, well organised exit. Three fire trucks but thankfully false alarm.

Musty Moldy Carpeted ROOM

ecohomei on Jul 03, 2024

We decided last minute Thursday that we would head up from CB for the night so we would be rested for our appointment the next day. We booked the room through expedia at approximately 5:37pm on Thursday evening. We arrived at your hotel at approximately 8:20pm to check in. I checked in and my husband parked. I went to meet him and our service dog (12lb cockapoo). As we walked through the front doors of the hotel the clerk abruptly told me that I had to pay $75 for the pet policy. So we processed that while my husband and dog went to the room with our belongings - ROOM 420. When I booked the room on expedia there was no indication of a $75 pet fee, just that the hotel was pet friendly. I finished up at the front desk and proceeded to the room. Upon my arrival I opened the door to a strong musty/mold odour. My husband has extreme asthma and allergies to animals, mold, mildew and dust. At this point, my husband was already symptomatic. his breathing was being affected, his eyes were red and itchy. I proceeded to the front desk, explained the situation. I asked if there were any rooms available without carpet? The answer was no. The same clerk said, "Well, let me check with my supervisor. Came back to me and said they only have one other room available. So the clerk and I made our way to assess the other room - ROOM 328. On our way to the room, I asked if the second room wasn't any better how can we get a refund. He advised me it was up to expedia. As we arrived to room 328 it was maybe a little bit better but still had a moldy/musty odour. I asked the clerk if he smelled what I was smelling and he responded, "Yes, I do! I understand as I have asthma as well and almost died 3 times!" He also stated that there wasn't anyone available in housekeeping to do a cleaning. I told him I would contact expedia as I didn't want an ambulance ride with my husband. We moved rooms and I proceeded to contact expedia. Keeping in mind, this was all within 20 min of arrival. I spoke to Expedia. They were very kind and understanding. They assured me they would contact the hotel and checkout with a refund. I questioned the expedia rep stating the hotel told me it was up to expedia. She explained that the hotel has to agree first. After approximately 10/12 min she responded saying the hotel would not refund our money because they already moved us and it was now 9 o'clock at night. That was the policy I agreed to on booking. I also stated the policy we agreed to was a CLEAN, ACCEPTABLE ROOM. We didn't check in until 8:20 ish and were dealing with the situation the whole time. We sadly could not afford to pay for another room and not get refunded for this one. Not to mention, after all we had paid an extra $75 for our service dog. We opened the windows and tried to get as much fresh air into the area as possible. After medications and puffers my husband settled. As you can imagine, having to have the windows open all night on the corner of main street led to an anxious and sleepless night with the emergency vehicles going non stop. Not to mention, the squealing of tires and rumbling of engines. So after all this we were exhausted for our appointment and drive back to Cape Breton Friday. I truly feel we were treated unfairly, and the supervisor on duty had not had the decency to even address this issue with us even after being contacted by expedia. We booked the room with the understanding that we were booking acceptable accommodations under the Marriott name. Needless to say, it was anything but!

Amazing stay at Residence Inn Marriott in Moncton

mombasatraveller (Calgary, AB) on Jun 17, 2024

Amazing staff, lovely hotel. Really good breakfast included in our stay. Place is clean, central to all places in Moncton. Our room had a soaker tub, lots of fluffy pillows, comfy bed, very clean all around. The full kitchen was a bonus as we decided to eat in on our last day.
