Sandals South Coast Fantastic Vacation Place
Shawna H on Nov 16, 2024
Been a wonderful week at Sandals South Coast, Jamaica! Beautiful beaches, pools and views! Markino our Sandals private driver started out the vacation perfectly. The drive from Sanger Airport to South Coast was good and he was very informative about the island. This was our first visit to South Coast. We travel with three other couples from the states and our butler teams were amazing! One of our best vacations because of them: Devaughn, Stephen, Toni Ann, Melesia, Lavardio and Davion. They all made everything so perfect from making sure coolers and rooms are stocked, surprise lunches, snacks, dinner reservations and pool and beach chair set up, always on it for us! Also would like to compliment the many other Sandals team members that treated us so special: Tamika at Schooners Shawn at Latitudes Enrique at the Return Dinner Richard & Lisa at Schooners Talia at Eleanor’s Ishmael at The Martini Bar Nobel & Kamisha at the Resort Shop Evernie Housekeeping Robinson at Eleanor’s Calicia at Sushi on the Sand Shanise at Jasmine’s The antipasto bar at Giuseppe’s is so good! Our last night’s dinner at Jasmine’s was the best dinner of the trip thanks to Shanise’s recommendations! We really liked staying in the rondoval swim up rooms and the great location. Hope to come back soon!
I'll give Sandals one more try

Long review. First time at Sandals. Went for my sisters wedding. Having stayed in another all inclusive & the money spent, it just does not feel worth it. I was expecting more luxury. We stayed in rm 1106, a walkout. The room felt like an old hotel room. A little dated and used. Smelled like mold or smoke. We did actually love having the walk out, we used the back door most of the time. The location was great too, so close to the beach, the jerk shack and the main pool. The bed and pillows were comfortable for us. There was also plenty of storage space. We never really sat on the porch but like I said, we used it a lot to come and go to our room without having to have our hotel key with us (unless room service came, then they lock the back door). Once, our mini fridge did not get restocked. I was under the impression all of the rooms had premium liquor but that is not the case. We never used the liquor as it was terrible options. The cats were one of the best parts of my trip, I happen to be a crazy cat lady and they were are so super sweet. Pretty bummed I did not bring them treats or cat food. The beach pretty much outside of our room was beautiful. Easy access. I HAVE TO ADD THAT THE SAND FLIES OR SAND FLEAS ATTACKED ME. I've been home for 4 days and I am still itching like crazy, like drawing blood. I was bit constantly. I wish I would have brought bug spray. The sunsets and sunrises are breathtaking. The water is so pretty. Water shoes are a great idea if you want to get in the water. The over water chapel was also so so pretty. Wonderful spot to get married at like my sister. We utilized the paddleboards and tubbing and enjoyed Tayam? (Sean's - I think this is what some people know him by) help - he came and found us at the main pool bar and told us to come over and check out the options for the water sports. Also, while sitting there I felt the earthquake that happened. Pretty neat! He also showed up to my sister's wedding like he said he would and helped out with that. Lovely to have a familiar face around :) The food .... um, not impressed. I will say the calamari from Neptune's was delish! The service at Neptune's is very slow. Tried to go there 3 times, one of the times after waiting one hour we left. The late night was also super slow because the crews got behind getting to work. <-- only did that once. Loved the antipasta buffet at the Italian restaurant, the alfredo was okay. The room service was terrible. Not great options and food just gross. Also service for that was slow. One time we ordered and never even got it, not sure if that was because we were not in our room, but it was not left either. The only other time we ordered it took 45 min and I specifically asked if we were not in our room, to please leave it. The buffet was nothing to write home about, service there once, was very slow to get sat with plenty of open tables. The Jerk Shack was REALLY GOOD! The sushi was okay. The snow crab roll - the meat did not seem real and was flavorless. At the cafe, I got coffee twice a day and got ice cream several times. There is a period of time where nothing is open to get food or that it seems. We never tried Jasmine's (nothing I was interested in) the chicken shack or Schooners (must have a reservation and again nothing I was interested in). We had to make our way to the Sandals Lounge and met with Bertie. He helped us with what we needed but we also mentioned we did not get a chance to make a reservation at either restaurant. He went above and beyond and made reservations for us the same day (our last night) at Elanor's. Y'ALL - this was the BEST MEAL our entire trip. We were oh so THANKFUL! My mom and I shared 5 of the 7 appetizers, 2 meals and 1 dessert. We also left with 3 more appetizers. The bean soup was TO DIE FOR. Ranae & Favian, our server were great and friendly! The pool bars were okay, the 2 guys that worked the one at the main pool were friendly. Vanissa at Neptune's bar made us the best drink of the trip, a lemon drop martini! Our first night we made it to Jamaican night for entertainment. We sat on the front row. The show had us cracking up and really loving the music and dancing. We met Francois (the singer) & Jahmone (dancer) who were so nice and entertaining. They got my mom up dancing several times. We also saw them around the ground several times and always said hey with smiles all day! The grounds for the resort are TOP NOTCH. The employee's are always out there working so hard keeping it kept up and looking beautiful! We all appreciate all of your hard work, it does not go unnoticed. My mom and I signed up for a stretch class with Kevon. We really enjoyed that, it was a small and personal class. She also did the aqua class and loved it. Great instructor! My own personal review on having a wedding here ... it is truly beautiful. There seems to be a lack of communication and planning but I will let my sister leave her true review. Lattitudes over the water bar is really cool, disappointing they close at 10pm. Lovely to catch a sunset and chill for a bit. While over that way on the beach, we met Othneil (lifeguard) who was very personable. He was friendly and we had long conversations, not once, but twice. I do not think many people talk about the absolutely insane trip to the resort from the airport. I am not sure what would make that better. We did not have cash and there are folks that help with bags so a good thing to know if you'd like to give a little tip. I also joined the FB group about this resort so I learned some tips from that as well. Overall, it was still a great trip, afterall, we were not at work. For the money I spent, I'd rather try another resort or the one I've been to before. I would like to give Sandals one more try. Surly there is one out there that would make it more worth it. We loved the island and the friends we made at the resort, meaning the employees. Want to add that the resort never truly felt busy, which was nice! Hope this has helped!
