Unacceptably poor service

David K on Aug 24, 2024

The sink stopper in my room was not working. I alerted hotel staff to this 3 times on 3 consecutive days before it finally got fixed. My son’s key card stopped working on his room the next to last day of our stay. He called on the house phone in the hallway for someone to come and help him. He waited for over half an hour without any help arriving, so I went down to check what was happening. The front desk claimed they had not been notified. I accompanied the facility manager back to my son’s room so that he could at least get into the room. We had to wait another couple hours for new key cards to be ready. This level of service is not acceptable, and I am not planning on using this hotel again.

We’ve found our NYC hotel. Will certainly be returning.

3Natsfans (Washington DC, District of Columbia) on Aug 16, 2024

We travel to NYC several times a year and stay at whatever hotel gives us the best rate. I think we’ve finally found the one to return to. The Westgate does take a $100 deposit for damages and $40 per day as a resort fee. (If you’ve found a place in the city that doesn’t, drop the details below pls,) We were given a corner room with two windows. The only time we heard our neighbors was when the door clicked shut. There wasn’t even sound from the street. It was nice to get maid service every day when most hotels only give replacement towels. Be sure to get your free waters every day from the front desk. As well as your free newspapers. There is a nice bar onsite, but no restaurant or hot food. They do sell pre-packaged food that will do in a pinch. A couple blocks away are a bagel shop and Dunkin’. There is also a grocery store a couple blocks in the other direction. Grand Central Station is less than a ten minute walk with the subway stop and other amenities. Times Square is about a 20-30 minute walk and taxis and ride services are plentiful. Overall, the Westgate Grand Central is a solid midtown hotel.

Wonderful Jewel in the heart of NYC

Caribbeanpearl (USA) on Aug 09, 2024

My husband and I stayed at the Westgate New York Grand Central from Friday, August 2nd through Monday, August 5th. However, due to our flight being canceled allegedly because of bad weather, we had to extend our stay for two additional nights. The hotel was incredibly helpful in accommodating us during this unexpected change. Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the pleasant scent in the lobby, which gave us a sense that this hotel truly cares about making a good first impression. Every staff member we interacted with was super attentive and helpful, always greeting us with a smile and a great disposition to assist. Our room was very spacious—something that's quite rare in New York City. The location is fantastic, within walking distance to most major attractions and surrounded by numerous restaurants and convenience stores. We want to thank Mrs. Zelenovic, the general manager, for going the extra mile to ensure our stay was nothing short of wonderful. We highly recommend this quaint and cozy hotel without hesitation. Thank you again for a memorable stay!

New York base hotel

Andrea M (Cannock, United Kingdom) on Jul 19, 2024

This hotel was a good base for sightseeing in New York. Times Square was about a mile walk. Rooms were cleaned daily. Our only dampener was we booked 2 double queens and ended up with a queen size bed which was not what we booked. Management told us to take up with the travel agent and they could only change our room part way through the week’s break so we made do as that’s what us British do. The hotel does a luggage service if needed. I have stayed in New York several times and would not choose to stay here again.
