Very convenient

I’m really glad we stayed here, because of the free shuttle to City Walk to access Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, the long hours and extensive selection at the Beach Break Café and at Starbucks, and the friendly and helpful personnel at multiple locations on the first floor. Our room was spacious, with comfortable beds, a nice hot shower and a locking safe behind the bedroom door. Our daily housekeeping service consisted of making beds, restocking toiletries, exchanging towels and emptying trash cans. The front desk texted me several times asking me if I had any other needs or concerns. The noise level was not bad; perhaps once each night I heard families coming back to their rooms late. Overnight parking was $19 per night in the adjacent parking garage. Park restaurants and gift shops, as well as the hotel’s first floor restaurants, could scan our room keycards to charge purchases to our room. I would be happy to stay at the Surfside Inn again.
Ok for a few days.

Just had a 2 weeks stay here for the 3rd time. Overall, the Surfside is a reasonable hotel. It’s cheap, mostly clean and great location for the parks. The buses to the parks work really well and we never had to wait more than a few minutes. On check in, we had already asked for a non connecting room and one without a bath. After the man calling someone else on the phone (presume manager), we were told that all the non connecting rooms have a bath - which we knew to be untrue as stayed previously. But at least we got a non connecting room which was essential with the noise levels at this hotel, so we let it go. It is a noisy hotel, kids running up and down the corridors, people thumping above and TVs blaring. A lot of this comes down to design and having non carpeted rooms but also the guests allowing their kids to run up and down corridors late at night. We had a room near the ice machine which was so loud -guests shouldn’t be allowed to use them in the middle of the night but again, it’s also down to the consideration of guests towards other guests. The worse noise however this time, came from staff using the pressure washer around the pool area at 2 in the morning!! Seriously! The noise woke us up straight away, it’s was so loud that even ear plugs didn’t drown it out. It went on for 2 hours. Why! The rooms are quite clean on arrival but the floor quickly gets dirty and is never washed. So you can imagine what the floor is like after 2 weeks! Why they don’t wash them, I never know. We had 1 sheet change in 2 weeks and that was only because I left a note asking the cleaners to change them. The food in the cafe was much better this time than previously. The pizzas are delicious and the pasta is now freshly made, much better. The ladies on the till were really nice. Tip - there is a couple of toasters, a microwave and hot water that you can use in the cafe. We’ve previously bought a kettle and toaster for our stays here but we didn’t bother this time and used there’s and it worked well and saved money. Also a laundry at $3 a go, can wash a lot at once, as big machines. So overall, this is a value hotel and is fine for a few days but is not great for guests wanting a longer stay.
Great stay, despite the noise!

We stayed here for 7 nights. Check in staff were lovely, allowed us to check in 4 hours early, as we had switched from a Disney hotel. The older lady on the ticket desk was quite rude, as we had booked as a package holiday we were unsure how to find our Universal tickets, she was quite dismissive and appeared irritated from the moment we appeared at the desk. Housekeeping were good, made the bed and changed the towels daily, always friendly when you saw them and would knock before entering. However, we paid extra to check out 2 hours later as we had a late flight home, in that 2 hour period we had 2 different members of housekeeping knock our door, one even opened the door before we answered, and were asking why we were still there. The bus service was great to and from Universal, the bus drivers were always friendly and would wait if they saw you heading towards them. The food was okay, not much variety, but was fine if you ate there once. The hot chocolate machine didn’t work for the entirety of our stay. Starbucks is a bonus, however the man asked me for a tip after making one hot chocolate, which normally I’m more than willing to tip but thought it was really rude that he asked. The biggest disappointment is that the walls/ceilings are paper thin, we were woken early every morning due to the people next door talking and using the hairdryer or hearing upstairs walking around. The bar man at the sand bar is great, really attentive and chatty! We didn’t use the pool but all seemed clean and plenty of seating. We wouldn’t return to Orlando for a good few years, however if we did then we’d definitely consider staying back here!
Fantastic stay at surfside

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Surfside last week . I would definitely return . The room was spacious and clean and pool area lovely The buses to universal and volcano bay came so quickly in both directions - far superior to the Disney buses that we waited ages for on our last visit when staying at All star Disney resort Starbucks in the lobby was great and the early entry is fantastic to get on hagrids without a long wait - highly recommend and good value The only negative thing is the paper thin walls . We had a really annoying neighbour whose phone alarm started at 6 am every morning and continued to ring for a full 30 minutes every morning of our 3 night stay - so inconsiderate and irritating but not the hotels fault. Other than that it was perfect and easy to walk to international drive for restaurants and of course city walk is fantastic with the free transportation home after dinner
VERY FEW NEGATIVES TO REPORT. ALL GREAT!

We stayed here from the 7th-22nd of November for a two-week holiday going around all of the Disney and Universal parks. As everyone knows this is a universal hotel so we were looking forward to the benefits. THEY DIDN'T DISAPPOINT! Using the universal shuttle located just outside the hotel with air-con and plenty of space, taking you to Universal City Walk within 5 minutes and dropping you right smack bang at the entrance I was loving this! It was such a relief most days when our feet hurt and all we wanted was to get back to the hotel quickly - There was always a shuttle waiting and we rarely waited. The second biggest positive Is the refillable cups. DO THIS!! I can't recommend this enough, the money you save by buying the cup is insane when you think a bottle of water is usually $4-5 dollars each. Other positive aspects include the pool being nice and chill and the bar staff (Garrett) always being lovely to chat with and making us feel welcome. We were given a queen double on the 9th floor (PERFECT VIEW OF THE PARKS) and a pool-facing room. This is where some of the negatives come into play - The room itself = Perfect, can't say anything bad but here are some tips - Make sure to bring an extension lead for chargers for the bedside chest. The chest they put in the room is just for decoration. The black-out curtains will not close all the way so pull the other curtains over the top of them. I didn't realise the first night just how see-through these curtains were until I looked out of the window and saw most of the hotel guests with all their bits out... I liked that we had our beds made every day even though our room was SO MESSY but sadly we never had our sheets changed which got a bit annoying towards the end because we had food in bed sometimes and then there were stains. I also found flickers of blood on one of our towels when we first arrived but it was changed out. The food at the restaurant was really tasty but sadly there wasn't much variety and I did find the staff quite rude sometimes. It's very confusing when there are signs out to line up in front of to order your food and you stand there and watch the staff stand there and have a chat amongst themselves and not serve you.. I did also find it a bit inconvenient that when we would be given our buzzer sometimes we wouldn't get our food for quite some time despite this being the very quiet season of the hotel. Overall, this is a great value-for-money hotel. I'd recommend visiting it if you're on a tight budget and need a great place to stay with added benefits.
