Nice resort but terrible customer service

Dpshow (San Francisco, California) on Dec 27, 2024

After a long travel day we get in what seems like the valet line, until a guy bangs on the window, scaring the crap out of everyone, says 'no valet,' and gives vague directions to a parking lot we never find. Drag our luggage from the parking spot, are greeted by a man who confirms there is valet, wait in a long check-in line and meet the most unpleasant front desk woman. She asks for my ID, which I lost before traveling, so I show other ID with a picture that worked for TSA, and she's like "You got through airport security with that... scary. I'll need my manager to approve." My husband has his ID, and the last name that's on the reservation, plus my 3 children have ID, but she says "They aren't on your reservation so they can't check you in." I ask if I can add them now. "I don't know if you're you, so you can't add them." I'm like "So I murder the real Gillian, so I can travel with her family to an over-priced resort during a crowded holiday?" The entire awkward time we're having this weird stand-off, the line is growing behind us, but she does not care. At this point my daughter realizes she has a picture of my drivers license on her phone, so produces it just as the manager comes over. Thank goodness he let us check in despite everything being so suspicious! She's still treating us like a family of imposters with a dead Gillian in the trunk, and doesn't get any nicer or apologize. It's way after check-in but one room isn't ready, so when we see a guy leaving with a wet-vac, the room smells like a disinfected crime scene, and the carpet is wet, we're pretty sure something gross happened, but we're tired so open the one window that's not painted shut. The next day we pre-order breakfast on line. We arrive at the Marketplace, are ignored for a while until a woman asks us for the last 3 digits on the order, but I don't have my phone. So I'm an imposter again, but this time I've moved on from steeling rooms to steeling breakfast. I tell her, "My phone is charging, I didn't know you needed a code, but I can tell you those are 3 vanilla lattes" at which point she touches the bag of food, daring me to guess the contents, so I list 6 items, but another stand-off until I remember the 7th thing in the closed bag. Again, there is a huge line growing behind me while we do this fun dance, and then she reluctantly hands me the bag, but says in a teacher voice "Next time you need the last 3 digits" and she points to the numbers on the receipt, like I'm an idiot. We're here for 2 more days so I'm hoping things improve. And I know it's crowded and I'm sure not fun for the staff, but pick your battles, be a little kinder, and common sense might be nice.

Outstanding tennis experience at LQ

Nadream81 (Long Beach, California) on Dec 19, 2024

We came to this resort because of the tennis facility team at LQ. Director Kevin C. and his crew treated us with the best hospitality you can imagine. His pros and staff were extremely accommodating and we felt right at home with our players. We are going to make our trip to LQ an annual event as long as Kevin will have us. If you’re looking for an experience with a great group of tennis coaches and staff, come here. That’s true whether you’re a teaching pro yourself or looking to receive lessons and court time. Wonderful facility which is kept in pristine condition. Ask for Ernie and Rod if you like some lessons. The guys were great! Thank you
