Nice resort, weird people
SimbaTheExplorer (California) on Dec 03, 2024
The resort was very nice. We stayed on the II side. I think the II side looked nicer than the I side. The major pool is located on the II side so it worked well for us bc we could walk to the pool. We had a nice first floor room on the golf course. It’s a lovely resort. Palm Desert itself did not appeal to us. It seems like it’s geared toward older retired people. The people were a bit nasty but we attributed it to being a lot of LA people. At Ralph’s, there was a lot of smirking and anger. It was super stressful to go there. The aisles are narrow and they have displays in the aisles. There were often 4 carts in a lane as well as people trying to walk through. That’s when the smirk and insults came. I’d be looking at something and standing in their way since there was no way to walk around me. I felt intimidated by these people. It wasn’t just at Ralph’s. The entire town had a weird vibe, even my 12 year old daughter commented on things people said at the pool. I have never written a review that included other travelers so to me, this was a big deal.
Book via AirBnB

I was looking for a week-long sunshine getaway, and this fit the bill perfectly. It's central to everything in the Valley, quiet enough given all the people around, and the room was comfortable and well-stocked. I originally found it via the Bonvoy app, but found the price on AirBnB to be about half that. Otherwise they treat you just like a regular Bonvoy member. You even get points for the stay. There are lots of resort activities, but I didn't partake in any. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The pools are nice but the lounge chairs are a bit hard for extended use.
