This hotel is okay but needs modernising but the rooms are clean. Check in was okay but the parking was not explained very well. We were told there was no other parking in the area and they only had the valet service but I’m sure we could have found cheaper parking nearby. We arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning so $70 for 12 hours was a lot, considering it was $74 for 3 nights in San Francisco. Average but probably wouldn’t recommend.
Not Great

Room was OK. Finding staff at the front desk was a side quest and the valet (not that we needed one) was rude and unhelpful. Breakfast, again, was OK. If you have a big appetite and don't mind below average food, this is the place for you. 4/10 not Great.
Loud. A little dreary and a little sad

I have had many great times at this Embassy Suites but this last stay just wasn't one. The hotel is a little run down. The pool area has seen better days and the lighting in the breakfast area is dreary. Dark enough that I had trouble reading. The staff were nice enough but the location is on the grittier side of Portland. I mean, the worst of Portland is the best of many other cities but regardless, I did see a dude peeing on a tree in broad daylight so there was that. The pullout couch was BRUTAL to sleep on - the mattress (what little there is of it) was worn out and the couch creaked. The cooling/heating system was loud. But the loudest part was the massive event happening down the block, with music and drums and someone on a PA making announcements and revving cars and honking and people scurrying up and down the street shouting at each other. Until 3:00 AM. I was in full on Mrs. Kravitz mode for hours.
Disappointed

Without notice the water was shut off in the hotel. The front desk claimed that they were not informed by their engineering department. What was their offer to us? 2-16 0z. bottles of water! They offered to change our room and said that the water will be on later. Well the water came on but we were informed it would be out again the next day. What made matters worse is that we were told that this was not the first time this situation happened (we were told by other guests who had stayed at that hotel in the past). Rather than inconvenience the entire hotel--it was full--close for a week and fix your problems. Be honest with your guests. Ultimately we got a 1 night credit but had to maneuver around this major inconvenience, including using the hotel lobby toilet when we were first on the 5th then 8th floor! You are not a fly by night motel---you should have done better. That said the people at the desk were nice and apologetic. Breakfast albeit included could have been better. The happy hour was ok. The pool needs better filtering but the hot tub was fine. Will think twice about returning there.
Disappointing

This is the most disappointing Embassy Suites I have stayed in. We arrived two hours before check in and the gentleman at the front desk advised our room was ready, but there was an “early check in fee.” The only parking is by expensive valet, not terribly abnormal for city hotels. Breakfast was mediocre and in the strange basement, as is the Manager’s Reception. This hotel gives two drink coupons per guest for the Manager’s Reception, which I have never experienced at any ES prior. Usually the only limit to enjoying beverages is time.
