Perfect Location and Excellent Service
Shengshi W on Apr 14, 2025
The hotel’s location is fantastic, with easy access to all the main attractions. As a Platinum member, I was warmly welcomed by Kelly at check-in, who greeted us with a smile and upgraded our room to a jun...ior suite on a high floor after multiple searches. The room was cozy and offered a beautiful city view. Though we missed the evening happy hour, the breakfast the next morning was quite good and offered a nice variety. The service here was significantly better than my experience at the Westin Union Square where I stayed two years ago. At the Westin, despite having an approved late checkout, the housekeeper discarded my belongings, and they were never recovered. That was an awful experience, and the service at the Westin left a lot to be desired. In contrast, Marriott truly impressed me, and if you’re planning to visit San Francisco, this is the place to stay.
Don’t book: overpriced and noisy hotel with the worst front desk personnel
Laura E on Apr 12, 2025
Stay away :-) The hotel is old and noise is everywhere because of the old status of the hotel rooms/windows. We stayed at the 19th floor for 14 unfortunate days. Why did you stay that long you ask? Because... we are moving countries and this was our temporary residence for two weeks before finally moving into our own apartment. - During check-in (not even upfront) we where told that a destination fee of $35 for each night had to be paid. This could be credited against (way overpriced) breakfast or dinner/drinks in the hotel. Although this sucked, we could do nothing else then agree. - During check-out, we saw that only a fee of $22 was credited against our breakfasts/dinners and that not all days were correctly credited. Kelley from the front desk got angry at us for pointing this out and told us that we were in the wrong. However, we were not. After multiple discussions finally the front desk manager came to our rescue. No further word or apology from Kelley. She actually made our miserable stay even more miserable. Not only customer service at its worst, but also communication to another human being at its worst, because I tried to talk to her after it got solved by the manager, but she point blank ignored me. Kelley is the main reason I’m writing this review, next to the fact that the hotel is just a stinky old overpriced building. Being alert saved us $200 and I would never ever recommend people to stay here. We did like the personnel at the breakfast area and the dinner area by the way! The area is quite nice actually. We went to a comedy show across the street, china town is near and public transport is close. So don’t be afraid of the bad reputation of union square!
