Overall good experience. You get what you pay for. We paid $2500 each from Winnipeg and felt it was worth it. It’s not a 5 star experience but overall very good. Service was good but definitely lacking in some areas. For example when we arrived we went to Castaways and were seated but then ignored so we got up and left. Wasn’t the best first impression of the resort. I think they need to hire more staff. Oceana was extremely slow, but the staff that were working did their best. They were just very understaffed. On the our last day I discovered the breakfast buffet in the Mexican restaurant. It was very nice, not as busy or noisy as the main buffet. The bottle opener for the mini fridge is attached to the side of the dresser. Room service sandwich was very good. Japanese restaurant was excellent. We went there twice. I wasn’t a big fan of the layout of the resort. You need to take elevators everywhere because it’s built on a cliff. Gorgeous views. Rooms are nice. Spacious bathroom sink area with lots of storage. Great shower. I’ve never stayed at a Secrets Resort before. My guess is that this resort does not represent the true Secrets level of service and guest experience. (I’ve never sipped tequila out of a paper cup at any other resort but I did here. Lol). Food isn’t the best, but it was fine. Noticeable lack of seafood. Our last vacation we stayed at the Hyatt Zilara in Cancun for twice the price. It was hard not to compare the two. The Zilara was excellent and exceeded our expectations on every level in every way, but also twice the price. So, like I said earlier, you get what you pay for. Our expectations were met, but not exceeded.

This was a surprise gift to my husband for his birthday. We could not have been treated better! The staff are friendly and helpful and go above board to make you feel special. The resort is older and could use a freshening but the staff makes up for it. I would recommend this resort
