Heavenly nature and a friendly paradise

The hotel staff were so friendly and kind, and really helpful. Israel the bellhop was a star, and it really felt like he took pride in providing the best service possible, so a special thanks to Israel :) ...the pools were great, there was a fun party pool and also a lovely quiet pool near the beach. There is so much care taken to protect the environment and this was also true of everywhere we went too. If you are interested in nature, there were many beautiful animals roaming free in the complex, like iguanas, coati and even some deer. The animals and the gorgeous tropical plant life really made it feel like a magical paradise. The massage at the spa was heavenly and the entertainment provided was very varied. We also enjoyed baseball and rifle shooting at the sports park, which is also part of the hotel. The only thing that wasn’t fantastic was the food, which in some restaurants was very nice (especially the amazing Buffet!) but in some was not so good. However, for an overall lovely Mexican experience, we would fully recommend the hotel and Mexico in general.
The Entertainments Team were the highlight of the holiday

I wanted to write this review to make sure that the Entertainments team at the Platinum Princess Yucitan in Mexico got special recognition for their hard work, talent, patience and kindness to all their gu...ests. It never felt like they were just chatting to guests because it was their job, there appeared a genuine love of their job and willingness to help guests enjoy themselves. From the foam party, water zumba & salsa classes, to t-shirt painting and bracelet making, they made the poolside such fun. Special mention goes to Luna, such a fantastic dancer but equally such a lovely kind-hearted girl taking the time to build up a rapport with guests. What also stood out for me was the evening entertainment and the quality of costumes, the quality of dancing and the all-round professional feel of every performance. I was so impressed by the acrobatics and complicated choreography, they felt like shows I'd pay to see at the theatre, especially the Michael Jackson show which was incredible and I would have paid to go and see it more than once! It felt like Michael Jackson was on stage! Finally, since I was there for the Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve celebrations, I wanted to say how blown away my family and I were by all the time, effort and costs that must have gone into the costumes, food and entertainment and making sure everyone had two such great evenings, especially with the countdown to 1st January. This certainly made up for the rest of the stay which fell short in certain areas. However despite the hotel feeling tired (the reception area feeling particularly uninviting with the dated decor and lighting and not particularly friendly reception/concierge/security) and the food often cold or tepid or undercooked in the main restaurants, the entertainments staff and all the buffet, bar, pool bar, restaurant staff and the lovely concierge staff who took our cases, all made up for the lack of 5 star feel for this resort. We would unlikely return as I feel there are other resorts in the area with a far more luxurious feel and better facilities for equivalent cost, but we were left with lasting great memories of amazing staff for which I pass on our gratitude, as well as having the best Christmas holiday in a very long time.
