we had our holiday here in March, the hotel is nice but 3 star at best, the food lets it down, most of the time things are overcooked and just not enjoyable. We upgraded to platinum which included the a la... carte restaurants but found the difference between options at the buffet or a la carte was too extreme, buffet was basic and overdone most of the time, a la cartes were trying to be too fancy (we are not seafood lovers so struggled alot with choices) The platinum section of the beach however was fabulous, comfortable sun loungers and you can have breakfast & lunch here, as the days went on the breakfast became more limited as they had ran out of certain items. The only downside to to the platinum area of the beach is it's not at all peaceful, the entertainment team are right behind the sunbeds so there is alot of noise going on most of the day, they would be better situated at the other pool which is just a little further away from the platinum area. The rooms are nice but there seemed to be an issue with housekeeping every day, lack of towels, no water left, coffee pot & mugs not cleaned, just little things but still irritating. Entertainment was very basic by other comparison to other Caribbean destinations, one lady in the team is quite simply awe inspiring though, Adalina! The bar are generally very pleasant however the cocktails are pre-made syrup rubbish, again very disappointing by Caribbean standards, the passion fruit daquiri was mostly ok. The sunset bar was a lovely setting but almost built back to front, the way seats are facing, the sun goes down behind you! Pool areas were nice and plenty of sunbeds around. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained with lots of wildlife which was just stunning, iguana's, flamingo's, peacock's & ducks plus a few little cats just roaming freely. we did a catamaran trip booked through the TUI rep (i think his name was Wilson) lovely man who was very helpful and we had the best time on the day, we did snorkelling and drank rum from a coconut! Lunch served on the boat was lovely too, highly recommend this trip! This hotel did not meet our Dominican dream standards so will not stay here again but would definitely come back and choose a different hotel.
