Do not go to this resort

Kelly V on Aug 20, 2024

This resort was awful. Rust in the bathroom tubs has not been taken care of. Dangerous walkways, mold on the lounge chair cushions, and more. I am adding pictures as they tell the story better than I can. I have worked with Sandals to find a resolution, but to no avail.

Big sandals fans!!

hannasue01 (Cynthiana, Kentucky) on Aug 17, 2024

We are big fans of sandals and this was our 9th resort. We loved it. Great service, lots of delicious food options, beautiful resort. Love the sandals brand so much and all that it offers. The diving is always a plus for my husband and I and the dive crew in Barbados was top notch!! ??

Paradise

We have stayed at different sandals several times and it is absolutely incredible. Sometimes the trip starts when you're at the airport at a club. Sandals lounge, but if not as soon as you hit the resort, you're greeted with a cool wet Lemon towel and I never thought I would need that. But it sure is nice when they hand you one. The rest of your trip, his absolute service. You may not even know you need anything. Until they come up and suggest it to you. While you're there, you have the opportunity. Pet, actually book your next trip and believe me a couple of days into a sandals The trip you will definitely want to take another one.

A fine stay ... with room for improvement

NewarkScubaDiver (Newark, New Jersey) on Aug 14, 2024

This review is for Sandals Barbados at St. Lawrence Gap and not Sandals Royal Barbados. While the properties appear to be connected - given you the opportunity to simply for from one to other - the reality is a bit different. In my humble opinion, this Sandals is hampered by comparison to other Sandals properties. Let me start by saying - this was not a bad venue, property or location by any stretch of the imagination - it is competing against top quality locations in the Sandals portfolio. With that caveat stated - allow me to present me review I selected Sandals Barbados because I wanted experience Barbados and haver the comfort of a Sandal's resort. Also, the idea of over 20 restaurants and 14 bars ... meant that we would have variety (which some say is the spice of life). However, be aware that half of the bars and restaurants advertises initially are actually located at Sandals Royal. This is distinction not made on the initial pages of the Sandals website nor is it clear on a lot of reviews. Nevertheless, allow me to state definitively - THIS IS NOT A NEGATIVE REVIEW. However, it is not Sandal's best resort. The location was actually good ... with an fine beach attached to the resort. The beach was well maintained and the water was beautiful. Service, staff, room and amenities were fine. 1. Public Facilities: The facilities were for the most part adequate or average. I did feel that the property upkeep was a constant issue, but that they were working on improving it. 2. Private Quarters Our initial room room was cozy and did provide a very partial ocean view. However, the ceiling in the bathroom suffered from a leak that was evident upon arrival. To add insult to injury, it was over the commode AND was active. This not NOT what you want to think about when you realize that there is a room above you. Unfortunately, it took sometime for the staff to acknowledge the obvious AND then some more time for them to correct it. Ultimately, we were moved to a room that did not have a leak - but was still a very partial ocean view. We did have the usual king sized bed with a balcony that overlooked one of the smaller pools and eatery. The TV was somewhat small and the shower adequate. 3. Staff They were generally pleasant. We had no issues with personalities, but as stated they were a little slow in acknowledging the room issue and then acting on it. 3. Services Room service staff created ZERO ISSUES. Our room was kept clean and downturn service was performed timely. 4. Location The location is in Lawrence Gap. You will go through and notice that you're in an urban area. This is not an issue for those staying on the property. But do not expect a 'scenic drive' from the airport to the location. 5. On-sight Restaurants/Bars [no review of Royal's offerings]: Dinos - This is the causal eatery with pizza, burgers and simple fare. It is really outside dining. The plus is the ability to sit and observe the surf or turn an watch the pool area. The Merry Monkey Bar - This is there British Pub. If you want to sit and have some drafts with fish & chips - this is where you want to stop. Keep in mind that it opens after 5pm. Cafe de Paris - This is where you will find your patisseries and that slight eurppean feel. Coffee, latte, cappuccinos - here is where you'll be able to enjoy a sit down break. Butch Chophouse - Your Steakhouse awaits. I would suggest you make your reservation early and enjoy. You're going to be able to enjoy Black Angus and Wagyu and select cuts here on the resort. Spices - This is where you'll be able to have what is essentially international fare. They change the menu sufficiently that you can eat on different days and feel you had whole different experience. Schooners Seafood Grill - Another location near poolside with a variety of seafood plates as well as some original offerings for breakfast and lunch. This is a great location to eat light. There are a few more locations that we did not get the chance to experience, Lovers (bowling alley cuisine), Kimonos - Asian cuisine and Bombay - Indian fare. 6. Excursions Aqua Center - their scuba diving shop was just great! Their staff was both pleasant and patient. The dives were beautiful - though truly the resort really can't control the weather, the surf or the visibility. Overall Sandals Barbados at St. Lawrence Gap was fine. While we were able to make our way to the Sandals Royal Barbados side of the resort, that was not always easy. Also, their were issues with dining at some of their restaurants - so I don't want to ding this location because of those issues.
