Memories are made here.

There is a reason we keep coming back. The views, amenities, and service is amazing. The Malcolm feels like a second home to us. The food is terrific, walking distance to down town. The only thing the Malcolm needs is a spa and you will have it all:)
Overpriced, underwhelming.

It’s an average hotel experience; think of a well polished holiday inn, with some aesthetic styling and upscale amenities. At one of the highest price points, with some of the smallest rooms, average bedding, etc, there is little value here. The staff saves this hotel, with succinct and concise information, courteous efforts and quick responses to inquiries. Some of the staff could use an education on delivery, tact and the use of racial slurs during discussions, but I’d chalk this up to their somewhat transient part time labour status. Management tip- if front end staff make jokes about natives to a customer who appears white, you might get a bad review if that customer holds aboriginal status. Food for thought. Speaking of food, the hotel’s restaurant is also surprisingly over priced, and you can expect minimally portioned, average food. Lots of creative language in the menus, but on the plate it was slightly better than an everyday family restaurant. Gossipy service staff seemed preoccupied with their evaluation of the patrons as they came and went, well within earshot of customers at the bar(i.e. yours truly). Perhaps a little diversity and inclusion training is in order? Room staff was very accommodating and respectful, parking was convenient. Lots of construction going on, but easy access to walking paths and beautiful views in the surroundings surpassed these minimally audible intrusions. For management: Please upgrade your linens. Please have third parties review your restaurant for honest feedback. Put some clearance mirrors in the parking garage. Inspect the balconies for falling and broken pillar cladding. Address staff decorum & dialogue. Push direct bookings and reduce reliance on Expedia and similar; your booking staff(Lucy!!!) is fabulous. Upgrade the linens. Touch up the furniture in rooms that look like it’s from a hotel salvage auction. Add travel essentials to the gift/coffee shop. Put a “Malcom Recommends” map of amenities in the lobby- outfitters, trails, food and drink, gas stations, late night eats, ski rentals etc, so exploration is easy and front staff isn’t inundated with obvious questions. Add a multilingual QR code link to establishments mentioned, and do some partnership deals for Malcolm guests. If the value of this hotel was better, it might be a 4 Star, but from an experienced traveller with thousands of hotel stays around the world, the Malcolm needs some refinement before calling itself an upper scale venue.
