Great hotel, but needs improvements for events.

We recently stayed at this hotel and hosted our Christmas party in one of the private rooms. Overall, the hotel itself is fantastic—beautiful facilities, a great pool, and really comfortable rooms. The bar staff outside of the private room were absolutely amazing and really added to our experience after we left the party. Unfortunately, the banquet service during our event was a big letdown. Even though the hotel was pretty quiet that evening, the service in the private room was incredibly slow. Drinks took over 30 minutes to arrive, and at times we had to go to the bar ourselves to order. Dinner was the most frustrating part—it took 3.5 hours to get through, which completely threw off the evening and left us feeling disappointed. It’s a shame because the rest of the hotel experience was fantastic. The other staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, but the banquet team just didn’t meet the same standard. If the banquet service improves, this would easily be a five-star experience. For now, we’d give it three stars—great hotel and amazing general staff, but the private event service really needs work.
Don't get hungry after 9

This hotel was perfectly placed. The rooms were very comfortable and if you book a room that ends in an even number you get a great view of the three sisters Mountains. The staff, especially the housekeeping staff, was outstanding. The hotel is very close and walkable to main street Canmore. The bar/lounge fare was excellent. We ordered a 16 ounce steak to share and it perfectly done. We did not try the Steak Restaurant. I generally do not find things that are disappointing in a hotel but there are a couple of things that are worth mentioning. Before we booked, I had phoned the hotel and asked if there was a large fireplace in the hotel where we could enjoy a hot chocolate or a wine after our day in mountains. They assured me there was. They were right. But the fireplace is right in front of the entrance door and it was very, very cold in the lobby, too cold to sit anywhere near that fire. Also, when we returned to the hotel from the Kananaskis Spa about 9:30 pm and went to the bar/lounge for a late dinner/snack, we were told the kitchen closed at 9:30 pm every night and we were unable to get anything to eat. Room service was also shut down at 9:30 pm. That was an unwelcome surprise considering the price point of this hotel. We will return because it is one of the newer hotels in Canmore, but definitely not look for something to eat after 9 pm.
