Overview

The Iberostar Selection Cancun is an All Inclusive luxury hotel standing on one of the world's most spectacular white sandy beaches. Its cleverly designed architecture enables guests to enjoy spectacular natural views and benefit from the invigorating sea breeze. It's the only hotel in Cancun to boast an 18-hole golf course, a luxury spa, an innovative fitness centre, a spectacular convention centre with 4,550 sq. m of versatile space, divisible into 22 meeting rooms and with 10,000 sq. m of outdoor space for events and celebrations. 3 star hotel at best

I'm currently staying at the Iberostar Selection Cancun. I want to report that I'm not having the best experiences, due to a series of service failures. It started with my first room having 7 different issues of broken, dirty and missing items. Francisco, moved me to a new room, meaning we had to pack and move. The current room has had its challenges as well, but I don't want to pack again, so I've had them fixed. My Cabana service today was non-existent. The server, Williams, was late one hour preparing the Cabana. Then he didn't provide any service after the initial offer of drinks and trying to sell me champagne. I ran into him around 2pm and asked if we were going to get service and he said the person walking the beach area would take care of us, but she didn't stop to see us even once, so I ran my own drinks all day. I just came back from making a reservation at the steak restaurant and despite being the 5th reservation in the line (first come first served) I was told I might not get to eat at the restaurant because they booked 3 large groups (guess it's not first come after all). Nancy, who was explaining this to me, said she would be in touch, but wasn't sure when. There has been so much more, albeit small things, that could have been better. It's a big disappointment and a big change from what I'm used to having in the Cancun area. Also, this hotel is literally falling apart, the rooms are very dated, the dishes stay in the hallways for days, the restaurants are only open from 530pm to 9pm and the only lunch offered is the buffet or the chicken nuggets & hot dogs on the beach. The cafe is the only offering after 9pm and it's limited and doesn't have ice cream. There's only one server on the beach at any given time, so good luck there. The hotel says it's 5 star and you will see great reviews from people staying Coral level, but that is a different building with different service. This hotel is 3 star at best and it shows. I have yet to speak with a manager, so the concierge has been doing his best. Their last award for 4 Star was in 2018.

Dirty rooms, HORRIBLE service and bad food.

If you want to stay in dirty rooms, eat barely edible food and receive indifferent and rude service then stay here!! Seriously I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels all over the world and this is one of the worst. I am currently STILL AT the resort in villas 1003 and 1004 and hoping this review might save someone from making the same mistake because surely it won’t change how management addresses problems. Highlights of the trip so far: -yellow water out of the sink -AC shut off because the back door “wasn’t closed” per the tech even though it was. Only 2 modes. Full blast or off -dirty and scuffed walls and floors -when we went to then on the shower the knobs literally broke apart and fell off in our hands -repeated calls to operator with no answer or “if we have it you’ll get it”. What???!!! -they don’t deliver ANY liquids (soda, milk, juice) whatsoever even though they have room service -there are no straws in the resort -my in laws and relatives has their rooms flood and locks broken and doors that wouldn’t close -while in the main dining room I felt something drip on my head, looked up and saw numerous leaks in the ceiling - we went to the Mexican restaurant at the resort and they literally brought out enough food for about five people, even though we were party at 15. When we complained and asked for more food we were the “kitchen is closed” -we were forced to go to the buffet 30 minutes before it closed and was told by one of the line chefs that they had no more pasta. When we complained to the head chef who came around asking if everything was OK even he seem shock and said no absolutely we will get some more pasta for you. This is just a tip of the iceberg but again save yourself the hassle and book somewhere else
