The Iberostar Selection Coral Cancun is an adults-only, beachfront resort located next door to the Iberostar Selection Cancun Hotel and the Iberostar Golf Club Cancun. This all-inclusive hotel offers a wide range of superior services and exclusive facilities. Beach is useless except for pictures - otherwise the service is good and food is great

To be fair, the food is very good and there is a good variety. Service staff is very friendly and very hard working. Accomodation is so-so, but overall OK. Beach is almost completely useless, and borderli...ne dangerous ( hidden rocky areas). You can't go even for a splash, as you risk of being dragged in and slammed against the rocks. Tons and tons of sea weed in the water. Waves are around 1.5m, almost every day,they slam hard on you and rip tides drag you in, although I went in a few times when the waves were not so high. It looks like it's like this or worse year round. Barely anyone attempts to swim in the ocean, which makes the swimming pool overcrowded. Since I am very particular of being able to swim and stay cool in the beach this was a real torture. If you are coming to eat and get drunk - fine, but if you are coming for a nice beach vacation - stay away. I noticed there's a very few complaints about the beach, so I wanted to emphasize it again - beach is useless and swimming is borderline dangerous!

I wanted to love this resort after all the reviews and research (and money!) that I put into booking here, but this is a 3.5 to 4 star resort, so please adjust your expectations when booking. I’ll start... with the best part - the Star Camp for kids. Staff are AMAZING and the activities are fun. Undoubtedly, this is the best kids club I’ve come across at an all-inclusive. The “waterpark” is small but sufficient. All of the kids here seem to enjoy themselves and there are plenty of chairs in this area. This is a gorgeous property that is well-kept outdoors and the beach has beautiful turquoise water that you dream of. Of course there is seaweed, but that’s not the resort’s fault. All of the pools are great, just watch out for the uneven floor/missing tiles in the infinity pool. Everyone’s towel game is strong here, so get up by 7am if you want prime shaded poolside seating. You can find shaded spots on the beach past 10am though. We booked a partial ocean view and were disappointed with our original room (202). It’s a view of the roof and beyond the roof you can see some of the ocean. They didn’t lie when calling it partial ocean view, however the pictures online are definitely misleading. We upgraded to a villa so we can have more space and a balcony. It’s nice to have our own shared villa pool (although, some families cross over and take our loungers and shade even though they didn’t pay for it - additional signage and monitoring by staff is required!), but be aware there are only stairs available, no elevator. Since this is supposedly a 5-star resort, I was expecting the room and amenities to be top shelf. You might not be able to fully appreciate the disgusting stains and cracks from the pictures, but the bathroom is unappealing and far from 5 star. Serious renos are in order, pronto. I wouldn’t be so bothered if I didn’t pay good money to stay in a villa. Further, our villa is right beside the theatre, so LOUD, annoying music is pumping until midnight. If you value sleep at a reasonable hour, ask for a room away from the noise. We checked out the ocean view villas since they’re farther from the theatre, but there are so many pigeons and bird poop all over the balcony/deck, it’s actually gross. Also note that the AC won’t get your room cooler than 24.5 degrees celsius. Food is good but as a vegetarian, selection is limited to sides or appetizers. Main meals at the buffet are all meat. Hibachi was underwhelming, Steakhouse was great (they had a plant based option), and Italian was disappointing since the Iberostar app menu didn’t match the menu on-site. Other than this one blip, the app is great for checking out daily activities and making requests. Drinks are good in the lobby and at the ice cream shop bar. Swim up bar is busy so it’s surprising that they run out of ice sometimes because…wouldn’t they stock up the busiest bar accordingly? For the most part, customer service is good especially at the front desk. Most of the staff work hard and I hope they are recognized for their efforts by their employer. One unfortunate event was when the power and running water went out two nights ago for a couple of hours. As a result, we were unable to eat at the steakhouse and everyone had to exit, so the hostess allowed us to make a reservation to come back the next day (none of the restaurants take reservations except Hibachi, they’re first come first served). She wasn’t there when we went back the next day and there was no note made on file about the reservation, so they didn’t honour it. I was going to give Iberostar grace for the power outage because it was out of their control, but how they handled this was ridiculous. I didn’t ask for a monetary refund or favour. It’s a simple dinner reservation promised by your staff… I won’t stay here again but overall, this is a great family resort if you come with the realistic expectation of it being no more than 4 stars. For management reading this review, no need to reply with a generic response…I’m still here so feel free to speak to me in person. :)
