Amazing hotel and Rambo, Kevin and Mauricio made it better
Dina R on Nov 16, 2024
I don’t even know where to start. The food was really good for all inclusive. The bartenders are very fast and attentive. Now on to the staff. Rambo was the kindest and most welcoming entertainer and host. We don’t usually get excited about the pool games at resorts but Rambo knew how to capture our attention. He was so genuinely kind and funny. Now for the staff at the lobby, Kevin and Mauricio were insanely kind and helpful. They smiled and said hi to us every single time we walked past them, which is incredible considering how busy they are. They always asked us if we needed any recommendations or help and gave us the best pointers. Honestly would come back to simply see them again
Relaxing, Fun-filled, Beautiful views, Great food and drinks Boutique Hotel
helenb07 on Nov 15, 2024
This was our first experience at a boutique hotel and we loved it! The staff was friendly (Kevin greeted us and was kind, humorous and helpful), food was excellent (deserts were delicious, which normally I find is not the case in Mexico - deserts typically look amazing but lack taste - not the case here, they are delicious), drinks were mostly excellent (some bartenders were better than others - Enrique was an incredible mixologist who took much care and attention to making the perfect drink/cocktail). Hakka restaurant was the only a la carte open as the other restaurant was being renovated, but there was enough variety that this was not an issue (we ate at the buffet once for dinner but after trying the a la carte decided to eat there for the rest of the meals). The wait staff at the restaurant were so friendly and pleasant - Marcelino, Crispin, Luis and Captain Esteban were awesome and up-levelled the dining experience. They even made us a special farewell flaming desert! Oleha, Olan and Quirino were the kitchen staff and make delicious food and sushi! The entertainment staff (Antonio and Rambo) were so fun and engaging-they made the pool-time during the day fun and exciting but not so much that there was no quiet. We really enjoyed our pool server, Sheila - she was sweet and very attentive. There is also beach service which is fabulous. At night Antonio was the entertainment host as well which provided continuity and made it comfortable and inviting, almost a family-oriented feeling - there was karaoke, trumpet player, keyboardist, mariachi band and a black jack tournament (which I won! haha) that happened in the main bar area, which is the only area to congregate (this made it an intimate and almost community-oriented experience). The entertainment was 1 - 1 1/2 hours nightly and then people just socialized in and around the bar and on the sofas in the area. There are tables in and around too if you want to play games or cards. The beach, water and view are amazing! Birds fly so close as the pool deck is elevated above the beach:) The waves were quite high during our time there so red flags all but one day but we were still able to go in the warm water just with caution - there is a rock shelf below the water and some spots where the rocks jut up so when it is really wavy you should be careful. The rooms were clean and modern and had great water pressure. There is a market about 5-10 minute bus ride down the road across from the Hard Rock and Coco Bongo. We went there and to the main market in downtown Cancun (45 minute bus ride) - there was no need to go into Cancun in our opinion. We also went to Isla Mujeres which was about a 45 minute taxi ride ($45 USD) or you could probably take the bus (12 pesos and you just stand right outside the hotel and it stops for you - they come every 5 minutes or so-great way to travel). Isla Mujeres is beautiful and beach sand is like powder! Oh, and the coffee bar at the hotel was excellent! Espresso, Americano, latte, etc. all are absolutely delicious!! We really enjoyed our time here at Oleo Cancun Playa:)
