Plan on Losing 15 lbs!!!

Voyager06787418216 (Fallston, Maryland) on Jul 19, 2024

1/5. THE WORST place I’ve ever stayed. A better description for this resort would be: “ Come lose weight with us at this vintage early 80’s mosquito breeding farm!!! Where weight loss is guaranteed due to lack of AC and questionable food! -Broken AC units? WE GOT IT! - DO you enjoy eating at a buffet with your own sweat dripping into your food? WE GOT YOU COVERED! - Love to smell MOLD 100% of the time in your room? CHECK! - The toilets don’t work in many of the guests Rooms - no hot water for showers - And a beach that’s eroded. Any local Health Department in Botswana wound shut this place down. Barcelo Group now owns this dump. I want to hear from them. Not the staff.

Peaceful and eco-friendly

We stayed here in Feb 2022. It’s a small but rustic and beautiful resort. Built right inside a forest so expect to see a lot of wildlife. We saw a native raccoon like animal every time we ate outside. Tourists are warned not to feed these animals but some have so the animals get really close. One actually jumped on my husband’s chair when he got up to go to the buffet. I was startled! ?? The beach is very small and I found it not very walkable. But the water was crystal clear and we found some really beautiful shells. ?? Food - I’m a vegetarian and options for me were a bit limited. I found food to be between good to very good. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. I would consider returning.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! AVOID BARCELO RESORTS AT ALL COSTS!!!

AmandaRB88 (San Antonio, Texas) on Jul 15, 2024

Half of our group arrived on Sunday July 7th while the other half arrived on July 8th. Knowing that a hurricane had just affected the area a few days prior, numerous people from our group contacted the resort to request information on how the hurricane affected the resort’s functionality. Each time we were promised that the resort was in good shape and there were no concerns if we continued with our trip as scheduled. As we all arrived we found this to be a blatant lie as they were experiencing electricity issues. This meant there was no AC with the exception of one restaurant on property and they had no hot water and lights were flickering, wifi was spotty and TVs were out of service. When they disclosed this information to us upon our arrival, we were told that we had the option to not stay and utilize our booked days at another time within the next calendar year…. Much easier said than done considering we had already flown there. This would have been much easier to accommodate if they had been honest when we called to check the resort's post hurricane status. Not having much option as they refused to offer any type of discount or refund due to the lack of function, we decided to stay and see if we could make it work. During the days we stayed, the rooms averaged 25.5 degrees celsius (approx. 78 degrees fahrenheit) with max temperatures reaching just over 27 degrees celsius (over 80 degrees fahrenheit). Pair this with the humidity and the rooms were legitimately unbearable and in no way shelter from the heat outside. This was the state of all of the restaurants as well, with the exception of one. The restaurant designated for the Royal level patrons. We were told that we could eat there since the majority of our group was Royal and those meals were our only solace from the heat. We finally settled into our rooms and found more disappointment. Our 2 deluxe concierge rooms seemed to have NO concierge service and the junior suite we booked for 2 adults and 2 kids had only 1 king size bed despite the website stating it slept 4 people. We were able to request a rollaway bed for the room, which was a twin, it took hours to get and still the room then only accommodated 3. So unless they are meaning that the king size bed slept 3 this room was seriously mis represented. We had to request an additional rollaway bed for the royal luxury room to accommodate the 2nd child. When we were finally able to make it to the beach we noticed that over half the beach

In spite of hurricane Beryl

ingridk472 (San Pedro Cholula, Mexico) on Jul 13, 2024

Despite the passing of hurricane Beryl, the hotel was great, especially the food services. Too bad we did not have warm water to shower - something broke and they were not able to fix it during the week. Thanks to restaurant and bar staff Victor, Yazmin, carlos, Armando. And many others.

Bad service, stolen cash, never coming back again

Polina O (Atlanta, Georgia) on Jul 10, 2024

Location of the hotel is great - diving is beautiful.. The rest is not great. Rooms are old / had some stains here & there on the furniture. I had terrible experience with staff at the hotel.. first they gave me a room where i could hear (with closed windows) the sound from power station.. second room was better, but the minibar was not working. I was asking reception every day to send someone to fix it - never got done….. Every time i would contact reception i would get false information.. it is really bad The worst thing is that on last day someone has STOLEN MONEY FROM MY SAFE… not much - like 150 USD .. i noticed when i left / had to pay taxi driver. Immediately notified the hotel and never got any response… The level of service is 3* at maximum..
