Bleak, lackluster, disappointed
qadeenfromage (Chaguanas, Trinidad) on Apr 08, 2025
I really wanted to love here but from the start the experience left a bad taste. Firstly I inquired about a day pass online and was told it was $200 for 9-5, at the time the stay per night was $225. Usuall...y the day pass is around half the rate of the night but I just accepted it because it's an all inclusive for 2 persons. Upon arrival the front desk guy took a while to find the reservation despite giving him the confirmation info and then informed us that they had booked us a room. Then I understood the price, not what I asked for but not complaining either. He gave us out keys and gave us directions to the room. Here's where things started it's descent. 1. We couldn't find our room. Improper signage. The signs show u some numbers. We asked 3 different front desk ppl to find out that there were rooms behind the ones that had signs. We didn't see a map and the directions given by the first 2 ppl did not help. Problem number 2- couldn't open the door. We went back and fort numerous times from our room to the front desk literally begging for some assistance cuz we couldn't open the door. When we finally got someone to come they couldn't even open it and had to call someone else to assist. It's a sliding door with a complicated locking system. We finally entered the room 40mins after check in. The employees are unwilling to help. Utterly distasteful experience. 3. There's 1 main breakfast area and I think it's shared with the rif. There were too many ppl and you had to wait for someone to get up in order to grab a seat. It will be worse during the holidays like Easter. The food wasn't bad but wasn't memorable either. A few items finished quickly and when I went back a few times it was nvr replenished. 4. No blended drinks. The drinks weren't bad but lacked alcohol and popular blended drinks weren't available like frozen Pina colada and strawberry daiquiri, you could order it but it would be with ice and not blended. 5. Swim up pool bar is mossy and smelly. It was a turn off ordering drinks from there. The main pool was nice and deep and large enough to accommodate the crowd. 6. Floor boards near the pool are uneven and tripped us. That is a big safety Hazzard and I saw another person comment about this too. 7. Beach chairs were packed full from morning to evening barely any space. We had to use the beach bar chairs which thankfully they allowed. Beach was generally nice but had lots of broken coral. 8. Street foods I think was the only place open that had food after the lunch from the buffet closed until dinner. It's small and struggles to handle the crowd. Hopefully the open somewhere else with bites. 9. There's only 2 places to get towels but 4 pools and a beach. They need more towel stations. We went to the water park first and had to turn around to go back for towels. I could go on and on but all that to say I could have overlooked everything if they had good service. The facilities are beautiful, needs some minor repairs and cleaning but it's a nice place. However because of the unfriendly and unhelpful staff I cannot recommend and don't see myself returning. I would recommend Renaissance hotel and casino instead. It's 5mins away from this hotel and the service, food, facilities are exceptional.
Michelle at the coffee Bar A+++

Michelle at the coffee bar was incredible, she is exceptionally diligent and efficient at her job and goes out of her way to make you feel special. Her smile is infectious as is her genuine personality. Ev...en when it was clear that the bar was short staffed it did not phase her. She is a real delight. Thank you Michelle!!
Average at Best - Mangrove Beach Corendon
vivian f (Atlanta, Georgia) on Apr 07, 2025
1. Front Desk/Welcome - Check in was average. No one was rude, but at the same time, no one was that welcoming either, except the drink server (lovely older lady who makes them; they were great...). 2. Room - The room was not bad, definitely not the best. It was average at best. - TIP: The mattresses are very firm (some people like that; I prefer more plush). Nonetheless, I have been on firm mattresses that were more comfortable. - There is no closet to hang clothes, so good luck if you have items that you cannot fold (and put into the makeshift portable closet available. 3. Pool - The pool was very, very cold, so much so that there were not a lot of people in it. Not sure how much they could do in that arena, but it was a pretty sizeable pool so very large to accommodate all guests. - The lounge chairs were very old, dirty and below standard. Not impressed at all; plenty of them though. - VERY IMPORTANT: There are rats by the pool. They are so dang fast, you will miss them because of how fast they are running. They have these planter pots around all the lounge chairs (for cigarette buts, assuming, but people put trash/food in there. I have been traveling for 24 years (business/personal), and I have NEVER in my life seen rats at a resort outside near a pool with so much heavy foot traffic. I know sometimes you cannot control rodents, but this is unacceptable. - The floorboards around the entire pool need repairing in so many spots. If you don't pay close attention, you will trip because of a warped-up board or loose board. Unacceptable. - TIP for families with kids: - The pools are 4.75 feet all the way across, so bring floaties so they don't get tired of doggy-paddling or can't swim or so YOU won't get tired of holding them the entire time. - The waterpark is actually in the parking lot (side of entrance in front of the hotel), so it is not as accessible and not really appealing to go to, to be honest (and water is cold). On the flip-side, not a lot of people go out there, so no lines or crowds. 4. Food - The food wasn't bad. There was a lot of variety, so you will definitely find something you like. The only thing I didn't like was that the buffet would run out of certain foods well before it was over for that particular meal. Most if the food was pretty tasty, to be honest, for a buffet. - The a-la-carte restaurant (seafood) was pretty good. It is almost comical when you have to sign up to reserve a spot at one of the restaurants (BBQ, seafood, Mexican, Turkish, Sushi, etc.). Guess, you have to hope and pray. The spots where they have the different a-la-carte experiences are only so big, so good luck trying to get a table (maybe 20 tables total for each). 5. Drinks - So, I expect some level of cheap liquor to be served at an All-Inclusive resort; HOWEVER, I don't think, no, I KNOW I have never been to a resort that serves nothing but cheap liquor, and I do mean cheap to the point, you have never heard of most of what is being served. - The only way you can get some Top Shelf liquor or even average was at the Cigar Lounge, and you had to pay for that. 6. Staff in General - I think there were a lot of people that commented (review) on how unfriendly the staff is. They would be absolutely correct. Most of them just act like they do not want to speak.....just off-putting for a resort. 7. GYM - The gym is all that and then some, probably the best I have seen out of all the resorts. Now, obviously, this is subjective based on what you are into, but I personally love the fact that they had so many weight machines (all new); ropes; manual treadmill; rowing machine; kettlebells; and on and on. I am a die-hard Marriott loyalist, so this was the first time I ventured out of their brand (and the last). This resort was not the best, but it wasn't the worst either. I would say, expect average (3-stars), and you will be fine. I wouldn't say the resort reflects the price they charge either, by any means.
Service was hrewt

Shena with the concierge team was a star. We had minor issues during our stay there- all of which were handled promptly specifically by Shena. Have stayed at Roy Alton in Jamaica and Punta Cana- this was s...o much better. The service was exceptional. Recommend. We are a family of 4 (14 year old and 16 year old kids). Fun for them- and us too.
Hotel deserves zero points!!! Definitely not a five star hotel

Absolutely terrible service. I experienced multiple issues in my room and requested a room change, but the front desk staff was completely indifferent. When I asked to speak with a manager, a woman named D...anique, who introduced herself as the general manager, came. Her attitude was incredibly condescending and dismissive. She said there were no available rooms and that she would send a technician—who showed up but did absolutely nothing. If you encounter a problem at this hotel, don’t expect any help. The general attitude is “deal with it.” No one tries to solve anything. The service overall is zero stars. In the main restaurant, there are dirty tables everywhere, and you have to run around with your plate trying to find a clean spot. Staff at the bars are completely uninterested, just playing with their phones. There’s no management presence anywhere. To top it off, the hotel feels like a zoo—pigeons and rats are everywhere. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel and will never return.
