Reviews
Jamaican me sad, we stayed here!
Trisha P (Kingston, Canada) on Nov 09, 2024
Honest review from someone who has been to several other Jamaica resorts that were nice. Lobby smells of a horrible piped in scent that they are using to try to cover the mouldy smell. It stinks. The hallways are dark all day and not lit up at night be careful of salamanders because you can squish one pretty easy it happened to me. He got stuck my sandals which I left there. The halls are not air conditioned only the lobby is and they smell of mould. Front desk people are fine they have zero control and rely on a manager to decide everything for them and they were never seen even when asked for. They sit in behind the front desk in offices doing who knows what’s other than telling the front desk folks what they can offer or not. Concierge are very nice ladies but will try to get you to do a hard pitch sale of a vacation “club” aka time share with huge sales pressure. The tour is over 2.5 hours but they will say 1.5. Tons of walking and the breakfast is at the suites resort next door and it’s the same as waves buffet breakfast exactly. Do not waste your time. We met a couple who bought into it and actually ended up booking via westjet because the “club” was more expensive. The elevators do not work regularly and several people got stuck in every section of the resort that has elevators. My husband was stuck in the dark inside an elevator for 15 minutes in building 2. Rooms- and we saw 5 have a mouldy stench, some the a/c doesn’t work, or tub doesn’t drain, or toilet flush or the fan above the bed is so wobbly it probably will kill someone one day. They all stink of mould some less than others. All my clothes stink now. There is mould growing in the actual rooms, beds are hard as rock. Sheets stained and not the cleaning crews fault it’s the resort being cheap. Shower floor is laminate flooring. There are bugs of all varieties running about. Food what a serious let down. Where do I even start. I actually went to my horrible room hungry nightly. It’s very cheap cuts of meat, no pasta bar, everything sort of tasted the same dessert wise. Lettuce and dill pickles were my go too lunches because there was so many gross things my husband even spit out many things and he loves everything. Breakfast toaster takes at minimum 3 rounds. Egg guys are fine and will do your eggs as you like. Some days there is cheese, some days not. Tomatoes as well. No bananas all week or mint. The Samurai (Japanese) restaurant was okay but no fun show like at other resorts. The food also tastes all the same. Uncle Tony’s the brisket was the best food we had all week. The Italian was terrible and the only restaurant that servers seemed angry we were there. Drinks terrible. Vodka tastes like turpentine. They pour it like they don’t own it even if you ask for a weak drink. There are not enough bartenders at all. We waited at the pool bar before 10AM for 40 minutes to get a drink. Zero entertainment unless you consider watching people get wasted or slipping all over the pool area entertainment. The floors are so dangerous we saw so many people crack there heads open and go the hospital no idea why it’s so slippery but if you decide to go please be careful or hire a great lawyer to sue them. They are renovating the outside and some rooms our room was a renovated room bahaha jokes on us! We would never stay at an Iberostar again. Actually so disappointed with the entire trip.
Perfect family stay ??

Me, my husband and our 2 kids (15 and 12 years) just spent an incredible 12 nights here. We generally stay in Europe at 3/4 star resorts and would definitely say this experience was a cut above. All the people working at the hotel are committed to giving everyone a fabulous holiday and seem to genuinely care. There are renovations going on so the hotel is at low capacity but this didn't worry us at all. One of the major pluses for us was the option to visit the a la carte restaurants whenever you liked for dinner with no booking (aside from Japanese). This was nice as meant you aren't eating at the buffet 2 to 3 times a day. Although no complaints at all about the options there. Big shout out to the entertainment team especially Quban, Telvin, Stretch, Ruth, Mr Nice, Chocolate. They work incredibily hard and like all at the hotel want to make sure you have a good time. We did a couple of trip days - adventure park for ziplining and river activities and the Nigril beach and Ricks cafe. Both were great but not cheap when taking a family of 4 for the whole day out. Tips - we are from the UK and we always tip at bars and restaurants but didn't realise here you tip for most things. This isn't forced at all, but good to be aware even on day trips when doing activities the staff will say tips are appreciated. Overall we loved our stay and are already talking about wanting to go back in the future.
